Andrew Scott is joining the cast of a new British comedy called *It Gets Worse*, created by the team behind *Motherland* and *Derry Girls*. The Channel 4 show is also set to star Lena Dunham and Amelia Dimoldenberg, though an official release date hasn’t been announced yet.
Leo Reich wrote, created, and stars in this six-episode series about three university friends – Ethan, Abi, and Sam – in London. Their lives are disrupted when their landlord decides to sell the building they live in.
The story follows a group facing eviction and struggling to navigate a hostile city. They’re dealing with fractured friendships, complicated relationships, and a world that feels like it’s falling apart. While things look bleak, they’re determined to enjoy what time they have left, even if it’s just a bit of fun.
What to Read Next
The show is about three young adults as they begin to explore their lives and the world around them.
The show delves into the characters’ personal struggles, like frustrating jobs, a lack of romantic success, and a growing sense of hopelessness. The description playfully suggests things don’t improve for them anytime soon.

I’m so excited about this new project! Reich has brought together an amazing group of people – the comedian and actor are working with Andrew Scott, who I loved in *All of Us Strangers*, and Lena Dunham, who they all worked with on that Netflix show, *Too Much*. It’s a fantastic team!
I’m so excited about the rest of the cast! We’ve got Amelia Dimoldenberg, who’s hilarious, Blake Harrison from *The Inbetweeners*, Emily Fairn who was amazing in *Mary & George*, and Olive Gray, who I loved in *Halo*. It’s such a great group of actors!
The sitcom’s cast includes Sean Delaney, Dane Williams, India Mullen, John Tothill, Arian Nik, Safia Oakley-Green, Nicole Sadie Sawyerr, Phil Zimmerman, Billy Rilot, and Kirsty Bloom.

Reich has assembled a strong creative team, including director Mounia Akl, who has previously worked on acclaimed projects like *The Responder*, *House of Guinness*, and *Boiling Point*.
Sam Pinnell, who worked on Trying, Motherland and Derry Girls, is on producing duties.
A24, the company behind many popular films and shows, is partnering with Channel 4 to create a new sitcom. Filming has reportedly started, and it’s expected to air next year.
It Gets Worse will air on Channel 4 in 2026.
