The trailer is out now for Pressure, a new thriller based on a true story and starring Andrew Scott and Damian Lewis. With a strong cast and a compelling plot, it’s already generating buzz as a potential blockbuster in 2026.
In the film, Paul Scott plays James Stagg, a weather forecaster for the Royal Air Force during World War II. In 1944, as Allied forces planned the invasion of Europe, Stagg was responsible for creating the crucial weather forecast for D-Day.
The first trailer for the upcoming historical drama is out now, and features a strong supporting cast including Kerry Condon and Brendan Fraser, who plays US president Dwight D. Eisenhower.

The video shows Stagg trying to warn his superiors about two approaching storms, but they’re skeptical and time is running out. He insists that a powerful natural disaster is coming, leaving viewers to wonder if they’ll heed his warning.
The film is directed by Anthony Maras, who previously received praise for his 2018 movie Hotel Mumbai. He co-wrote the screenplay with David Haig, who also adapted it from his own 2014 stage play of the same title.

The thriller Pressure will be released in the US on May 29th. However, viewers in the UK will have to wait until September 9th to see it – about three and a half months later.
The historical thriller’s story begins in the 72 hours before D-Day, when everything is ready except for a crucial factor: the British weather, according to StudioCanal.

James Stagg, Britain’s top weather forecaster, faced immense pressure to predict the weather for what would become the most important forecast ever made. His prediction was crucial for the success of the massive D-Day invasion, and a mistake or delay could have led to disaster – either by exposing the Allied forces to terrible conditions or by alerting German forces to the plan.
Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Supreme Allied Commander, carried the weight of the war on his shoulders as he prepared to launch the invasion. Burdened by a disastrous practice run and with only his close advisor, Captain Kay Summersby, to share his concerns, he faced the final, critical decision with just hours remaining, knowing the lives of millions were at stake.
Pressure is released in the UK on 9 September, and 29 May in the US.
