Andrew Garfield addresses Spider-Man return: “It would have to be very weird”

Andrew Garfield has addressed a possible return to the Spider-Man franchise.

In 2012 and 2014, the actor portrayed Peter Parker in “The Amazing Spider-Man” and its sequel respectively. Later, he returned to the role in 2021’s “No Way Home,” sharing screen time with other Spidermen, Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire.

At the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Abu Dhabi, Garfield hinted that he might take on the role once more. However, any revival of the character would need to be quite unusual.

He expressed his deep affection for playing Spider-Man and mentioned that he’d be thrilled to reprise the role in some fashion, but he found it quite unusual or strange, as he shared during the panel discussion.

The star went on saying, “I’m yearning for an opportunity to create something truly exceptional, out-of-the-ordinary, and unexpected – much like the artistic liberty enjoyed in productions of the animated Spider-Verse films.

In my opinion, they are truly remarkable, and there are numerous methods to pay tribute to their essence across various universes.

After Garfield mentioned his potential appearance in Tom Holland’s forthcoming fourth Spider-Man film, he hinted that fans might find themselves a bit underwhelmed.

He previously informed GQ that he would let them down, and he reiterated this statement. However, it’s worth noting that some might find it hard to trust him given his previous lie about his cameo in “No Way Home.

“But I know no one’s gonna trust anything I say from now on,” he joked.

The fourth installment of Spider-Man, titled Spider-Man 4, is slated for release on July 24, 2026.
