Andre Agassi shared an old photo of himself with his wife, Steffi Graf, on Instagram to mark their 24th wedding anniversary.
The tennis power couple, considered by many to be all-time greats, looked remarkably different in a proud photo with their Wimbledon trophies from 1992.
I remember Andre before he became famous for his shaved head! It’s wild looking back at old photos – he used to have really long hair, down to his shoulders, and he always wore a single, cool dangling earring. He was a style icon even then, and it’s amazing to see how much he’s changed over the years. He’s 55 now, but I still think of him as the champion I first fell in love with.
He looked sharp in a suit, standing beside the youthful Stefi, who, at 56, wore a glamorous gown and pearl jewelry.
Andre held the trophy for winning the Men’s Singles title, and his wife – whom he married in 2001 – held the Rosewater Dish awarded to the winner of the Women’s Singles.
He shared a newer photo of himself with his partner, showing them smiling happily for the camera. The couple are parents to Jaz, 22, and Jaden, 24, and seemed very much in love.
Andre celebrated his 24th wedding anniversary with Steffi, sharing a sweet message online. He called her his ‘unicorn’ and wished her a happy anniversary.
I was scrolling through photos and saw this amazing picture! Everyone immediately started commenting how Stephi looks younger every year – seriously, is she aging backwards?! So many people were saying they’re the cutest couple ever, and it made my heart so happy. One comment really got to me – someone said Stephi and her partner are the reason they fell in love with tennis. It was such a sweet anniversary post, and everyone agreed she’s just getting better with time – like a fine wine!
Even though his relationship ended quickly in 1992, Andre later married Brooke Shields from 1997 to 1999, and eventually found lasting happiness with Stefi.
I was really saddened to hear about this earlier in the year – a well-known actress shared that her ex-husband once made a hurtful comment disguised as a compliment. It was a classic case of body-shaming, and it just goes to show how damaging those ‘backhanded compliments’ can be, even from people you used to be close to.
In her new memoir, Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old, she discussed her relationship and also opened up about her experiences as a model, revealing how they contributed to her struggles with body image.
It absolutely killed me to read this, but she said they straight-up told her she wasn’t good enough for the runway because she wasn’t thin enough. Can you believe it?! It’s just… heartbreaking. I’ve followed her for years and she’s always been stunning, and to think someone actually said that to her face… it makes me so mad!
After constantly being called “the face,” she started to feel like that’s all anyone saw. She felt like her body and the rest of herself were separate from the public image of Brooke Shields that everyone knew.
She recalled telling Andre about these inner thoughts and insecurities.
According to Shields, whenever she shared her insecurities with her first husband, he would respond by telling her he wished she could see herself as he did.
She went on to explain that when she jokingly asked, “Will you still love me if I get big and fat?” – which she now realizes was an unreasonable question to ask, as she was really wondering about pregnancy – she was completely surprised by his reaction.
Brooke claimed that Andre told her, ‘I love you too much to let you get big and fat!’
The Pretty Baby star admitted in the book that it was a response that she didn’t expect.
‘I definitely did not see that coming and must admit I started to spin a bit,’ Shields wrote, per the outlet.
‘But we all know how that relationship turned out,’ she added.
Following her divorce from Andre Agassi, Brooke Shields married film director Chris Henchy in 2001 and found happiness again.
The couple share two children together, daughters Rowan, 21, and Grier, 18.
