Andoryuuu’s road to redemption under Virtus.pro: “Honestly, I’m not even sure why I said yes when coach Flysolo asked me.”
Andoryuu made a bold move by signing up with Virtus.pro. As a result, he will now have the opportunity to walk onto the primary MSC 2025 stage following his successful Wild Card win.
At the Esports World Cup (EWC) Wild Card Stage in 2025’s Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup (MSC), Virtus.pro initially didn’t draw much attention, but a surprising figure at their core was Filipino jungler Andrew “Andoryuuu” Lew Flora. A well-known former player from the MPL PH, Andoryuuu proved to be the strategic leader and key player for the CIS team. However, his journey to join the CIS squad wasn’t simple or straightforward.
During a special conversation with Xpsp, Andoryuuu discussed his experiences working with the Russian squad, the hardships they faced, and how he successfully navigated obstacles to lead them to victory in the MSC 2025 at the EWC Wild Card Stage.
Andoryuuu became “The Nightmare” of MSC 2025 at EWC Wild Card Stage
Prior to the competition, Virtus.pro had assembled their five-member Russian team ahead of time. Unfortunately, due to age restrictions, Zaur “zaur egoist” Magomadov was ineligible to play. This put the team in a tight spot as they needed to find a substitute for the event at short notice.
It was then that their coach, Kenneth Coloma, or Realsolo (a Filipino), shifted their focus towards Andoryuuu, a newcomer jungler from the Philippines, following his stint in MPL Philippines Season 15. Unfortunately, his team had struggled in the previous season, ending up in 8th position, the lowest ranking on the leaderboard. As a result, it wasn’t exactly a promising period for Andoryuuu, who was temporarily stepping away from MLBB.
In retrospect, I hesitated to join because I was experiencing some tough times and had actually stepped away from ML. To be honest, I’m still puzzled about what made me agree when Coach Flysolo invited me.
Although initially uncertain, Andoryuu decided to take a bold step. He became part of Virtus.pro, stepping into an environment that was both culturally and linguistically foreign to him. Since English isn’t widely spoken among his teammates, clear communication quickly emerged as a significant hurdle.
He shared that he focused on enhancing his strategic planning within the game. To prevent problems from arising, he would begin instructing them in basic English. Given our short history of playing together, he aims to keep conversations simple and avoid complex communication, unlike more experienced teams who have been playing for a longer period.
For Andoryuuu, fitting into the style of Virtus.pro’s gameplay seemed effortless. With a background of playing under various meta-games and team tactics, Andoryuuu found adapting himself to their system surprisingly straightforward.
He mentioned that there wasn’t much new for him to adapt to, as he had previously experimented with multiple playing styles. Upon observing their methods, he immediately understood which aspects he needed to modify within his own approach.
During the Wild Card Stage, Andoryuuu rapidly established himself as a formidable force, garnering both respect and fear among spectators and competitors alike. His nickname, “The Nightmare,” was well-deserved due to his unyielding map control, impeccably timed skirmishes, and remarkable knack for throwing a wrench in the enemy’s strategy. The Filipino jungler was the player that opponents dreaded encountering. Even his masterful use of Jungle Uranus, a hero typically seen in the EXP lane, left everyone astonished. For teams who found themselves up against Andoryuuu, he wasn’t merely a danger; he was an unshakable terror they couldn’t escape from.
It takes more than one winter to thaw a Russian heart, unless you’re Andoryuuu
During Andoryuuu’s teamwork, there was a crucial aspect needing improvement: fostering mutual trust among team members. This required swift attention. For Andoryuuu, the process of cultivating this trust extended beyond the realm of the game.
The foundation of trust was laid as I began expressing myself within the game, long before our regular training sessions. Additionally, I took the initiative to chat with them about ordinary topics like their interests and personal lives, which is where that genuine connection truly developed.
It’s quite different from the bold contender who earlier announced his ambition to conquer the MPL PH champions. However, his perspective has since shifted.
In the past, it was all about demonstrating my abilities, he explained. However, these days, I’m simply eager to compete against the top-tier players in this league.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to see Andoryuuu and Virtus.pro making their way into the MSC 2025 Group Stage. His story is unique and inspiring, filled with transformations from self-doubt to unwavering determination. Overcoming language barriers and building trust within the team, he’s demonstrating that raw talent, adaptability, and passion have no boundaries. This journey is far from over, but already it’s a testament to the power of perseverance in competitive gaming.
