Andor: Adria Arjona says Tony Gilroy has outdone himself with Season 2
As a dedicated Star Wars fan, I can confidently say that Adria Arjona has not only captured my heart with her extraordinary portrayal of Bix Caleen in Andor, but she’s also become an integral part of this galaxy far, far away for me. Her recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter was nothing short of enlightening, providing a fascinating insight into the mind-blowing writing of Tony Gilroy for Season 2.
Adria Arjona has made a mark in the Star Wars universe due to her outstanding portrayal of Bix Caleen in ‘Andor’. Arjona is set to reprise her role as Bix for ‘Andor’ Season 2, which she hints will surpass Season 1 in every way.
In a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Arjona opened up about her recent achievements, such as her Netflix show “Hit Man,” and delved deeply into the exceptional writing of Tony Gilroy for “Andor” Season 2. Arjona feels fortunate to have been involved in the series and assures fans that the concluding season will exceed all their anticipations, even surpassing her own high expectations.
Before reading the script for Season 2, Arjona had doubts whether Gilroy could top the excellence of Season 1. However, his work in Season 2 exceeded her expectations and caused her to revise her opinion.
So I started reading episode one, and I was again like, ‘It’s not going to be as good.’ But it’s [expletive] better. It’s so much better. It is. What he has crafted and created is mind-blowing, and I can’t believe I got to be a part of it.
Arjona admires Tony Gilroy, the mastermind behind the series, who has become a highly sought-after name among Star Wars enthusiasts as their preferred choice for directing upcoming projects.
I just have so much respect for him. He’s so talented, and he really outdid himself for season two.
Beyond Gilroy’s work on the series, Arjona also credits him with motivating her as a performer:
He just believes in me so much, and he’s really turned into my godfather in this industry.
Arjona also revealed that she’s gotten a tattoo in honor of her character, Bix Caleen:
It’s a little tiny x for Bix, and I got it … Can I say it? Disney can’t fire me. I already shot it. It’s in the can. I got it while I was on set. My makeup artist did a stick-and-poke [tattoo] in the middle of a lunch break.
Unfortunately, none of the cast members consented to getting tattoos with her, yet Arjona now bears a tattoo as an enduring reminder of her extraordinary Star Wars adventure.
In its second season, the show “Andor” explores the four years preceding the events of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” and it brings back significant characters from that movie. The series will depict Cassian Andor’s transformation from an ordinary individual to a highly respected intelligence officer within the Rebel Alliance, marking a stark contrast from his initial character portrayal in Season 1. Notable actors like Ben Mendelsohn and Alan Tudyk are among those reprising their roles in this series, which incorporates a one-year time leap every three episodes. A tantalizing sneak peek for “Andor” Season 2 was unveiled at the D23 Fan Expo on August 9, offering glimpses of K-2SO, Director Orson Krennec, Mon Mothma, and Cassian Andor.
Andor Season 2 premieres in 2025 on Disney+.
