According to the Brazilian director Kleber Mendonça Filho, he is releasing a film in a setting reminiscent of the Colosseum. This film, titled ‘The Secret Agent,’ is being unveiled at Cannes and takes place during Brazil’s dictatorship.

This year, there’s no change in the fact that some first-time film directors at Cannes are already quite recognized. Specifically, Kristen Stewart (The Chronology of Water), Scarlett Johansson (Eleanor the Great), and Harris Dickinson (Urchin) will each be premiering their directorial feature debuts within the Un Certain Regard section of Cannes.

Several longtime attendees will return as well, such as Tom Cruise (from Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning), Robert De Niro – who is being awarded an honorary Palme d’Or 49 years after the Cannes premiere of Taxi Driver – and Quentin Tarantino, to honor low-budget Western director George Sherman.

This year, the long-awaited eighth and last film in the Mission Impossible series will be among the first to debut at Cannes, occurring on the red carpet on May 14th.

Meanwhile Scarlett’s directorial debut Eleanor The Great, will be unveiled on May 20.

Nevertheless, due to his ongoing legal dispute with ex-co-star Blake Lively, it’s unlikely that Justin Baldoni will be present.

In recent times, it seems that the glitzy event has garnered more focus on the stylish attire donned by its famous attendees rather than the lineup of movies premiering along the Croisette.

however, a set of new modesty guidelines, introduced to uphold decorum, will come into effect as French filmmaker Amélie Bonnin’s film “Leave One Day” begins its screening at the event this week.

As reported by organizers, this strict decision aims to discourage the popular trend among celebrities of wearing revealing and suggestive attire, often referred to as “naked dresses,” on the red carpet. These outfits tend to expose far more than they cover.

According to a Cannes Festival guideline, it’s important to note that public nudity is not allowed on the red carpet or any other festival location.

At the festival, those responsible for welcoming teams must ensure that only individuals adhering to these rules are granted access to the red carpet.

The latest festival attendees guideline, unveiled recently, includes unexpected changes to the policies – accompanied by a set of guidelines detailing appropriate conduct in public.

It’s uncertain whether French TV broadcasters, cautious about showing nudity, might have influenced the initiation of this stricter policy.

Significant high-profile events such as the Cannes Film Festival and others are broadcast in France by France Télévisions.

Lately, there’s been a higher number of models and influencers compared to actors and movie makers attending the yearly event. This shift has led to a rise in bold and daring fashion choices on the red carpet.

At a screening of Tre Piani (Three Floors) in the year 2021, American supermodel Bella Hadid showcased a deep neckline on her black dress, revealing part of her chest.
