25 years on, Andi Oliver openly confessed that she’s yet to forgive Chris Moyles for the inhumane treatment he inflicted on her daughter, Miquita Oliver, and still harbors a desire for justice towards him.
The television cook, aged 62, reminisced about an incident on the DJ’s Radio 1 program where he conducted a phone-in, soliciting opinions from listeners regarding whether they would kiss a T4 host who was merely 16 years old at the time, while he himself was 26.
As an ardent fan, I can’t help but express my outrage. I’ve never had the chance to confront that DJ, whom I’ve always found abhorrent. The incident left me seething, and I believe he’d rather retreat than face the music, as his misogynistic behavior mirrors that of a drunken racist.
Forty-one years old now, Miquita was sixteen when a caller asked on his Radio One show if they would sleep with her. This question made me want to harm him back then, and I still feel that way about him to some extent. It’s not often that I dislike someone I haven’t even met, but I could imagine serving time for such a person.
When inquired about addressing him, she replied: ‘He’d often backtrack, but I don’t mind. It’s similar to those who say, “I didn’t intend to use that racial slur, I was drunk.” However, being intoxicated doesn’t turn me racist. It merely reveals what’s within.’
Instead of saying: “So I don’t care if it was the Noughties, when there was that awful lad culture where it was acceptable to talk about women like that”, you could say: “It doesn’t matter to me that it happened during a time when a harmful attitude towards women, often referred to as ‘lad culture’, was prevalent and such behavior was deemed acceptable.” This way, the sentence is more formal and easier to understand.

Additionally, Andi expressed her conviction that her daughter didn’t receive adequate support from the broadcasting companies she worked with when she was still very young, and she mentioned that there was no obligation to ensure her well-being.
TopMob have contacted Chris Moyles’ representatives and BBC for comment.
After Charlotte Church shared her distressing experiences of being treated inappropriately as a young opera singer who gained fame at age 12 following her record deal, she also criticized Chris.
2021 saw the mother-of-three, now 38 years old, discussing her past on the Sink The Pink Pop Tart podcast. She mentioned that there had been a timeline leading up to her losing her virginity.
She asserted: ‘Following that, Chris Moyles discussed it on Radio One. Frankly, the whole situation was quite unpleasant.’
Although we’ve made progress, there’s still a considerable journey ahead for feminism and equality. Regrettably, there are many close-minded individuals around us. Let’s strive to help them evolve rather than hoping they simply disappear. Perhaps understanding and education will be the key.
In 2002, during a broadcast, Chris infamously stated that he intended to be the one to take Charlotte’s virginity once she turned sixteen, at which point he was 28 years old.
He shared with his afternoon audience that he intended to guide her through the realm of adolescent sexuality, as she had turned 16.

At that point, the BBC argued that the remarks made in February represented the disc jockey’s playful sense of humor.
A representative from the BBC stated to Daily Mail that, similar to other sections within the organization, they strictly follow the BBC’s Editorial Guidelines and prioritize their responsibilities towards their audience, contributors, and staff with great diligence.
A source shared with Daily Mail that an event happened approximately 19 years back, and without a doubt, such language or conduct wouldn’t be permitted at the station this year (2021).
As a devoted admirer, I couldn’t help but feel a pang when I learned that my beloved radio host, Chris Moyles, faced a complaint for his alleged inappropriate remarks. Remarkably, the Broadcasting Standards Commission sided with the listener, which, to be honest, left me a bit disheartened. However, I remain optimistic and hope that this will only make Chris more mindful of his choice of words in the future, ensuring he continues to entertain us while maintaining the highest standards of broadcasting.
The BSC Standards Panel acknowledged Moyles’ reputation for a bold, edgy style, but believed that the level of explicit sexual content and humor in his broadcast crossed the acceptable limits for airtime at that particular moment.
It was not the first time that the controversial DJ had fallen foul of the broadcasting watchdog.
In 2000, it was discovered that Chris had crossed established limits by making disrespectful remarks about an actor’s spouse during his broadcast on Radio 1.
In his former position at Capital Radio, the Broadcasting Standards Commission (BSC) addressed and validated a complaint regarding inappropriate comments of a sexually suggestive and aggressive nature that he directed towards a young female radio caller.

In January 2010, when Moyles was earning half a million pounds annually, he sang Will Young’s debut hit “Evergreen” in a voice that was perceived as feminine, in reference to Young’s birthday.
He joked, ‘Today is my birthday, I’ll be wearing my new dress this evening. I also smell fresh – I took a shower and shaved my legs.’
Later on, he sang a version of Young’s popular song Leave Right Now: ‘When you saw me in the past, you didn’t realize, but now I’m one of the most openly gay individuals you may encounter. Mmm, I enjoy wearing a funny hat, I become more flamboyant with each passing hour.’
According to The Times, Will shared that he still experiences a sense of sadness due to the impact it had on his perception of his sexuality’s importance and because he didn’t assert himself in the situation.
Although I initially thought it didn’t make a difference, it turned out to be quite significant. In fact, it was truly unfortunate and unpleasant.
In 2006, Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry appeared on his show.
In a different phraseology, there was a conflict between the individual and an American, as the former portrayed himself as a supposedly overweight African-American man from Brooklyn, according to his own description.
An unimpressed Berry asked Moyles: ‘Are we having a racist moment here?’
In that very year, he faced censure from Ofcom due to his derogatory remark towards certain female listeners, calling them disrespectful names like “dirty sluts.
