Ana de Armas’ forgotten thriller is now available to watch on Netflix
As a cinephile with a penchant for gritty thrillers, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the chance to revisit “The Informer” since its initial release. The film, starring Ana de Armas and an impressive ensemble cast, has now found a new home on Netflix UK and Ireland.
This week, the previously overlooked suspense film titled “The Informer” featuring Ana de Armas, has made its way onto Netflix in both the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The movie tells the story of a convict turned FBI informer aiming to dismantle the mafia’s illicit drug network. However, events take a tragic turn, transforming his mission into a pursuit of vengeance.
Joel Kinnaman, Rosamund Pike, Clive Owen, and rapper-turned-actor Common also feature.
2019 saw the unveiling of “The Informer” in the UK, where it managed a relatively quiet success at the cinema. Its American premiere took place towards the end of 2020, following several postponements.
The response it received was relatively quiet, as indicated by its 64% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 58 reviews, and an audience score of 61%.
Ever since my role in “The Informer,” I’ve found myself drawn to more thrilling projects, and that’s exactly what I got with the darkly comedic survival thriller, “Eden” (previously known as “Origin of Species”). It was a pleasure to premiere this film at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month.
Under the guidance of director Ron Howard, the film features performances by Jude Law, Sydney Sweeney, Vanessa Kirby, and Daniel Brühl.
The narrative is based on real-life events and follows a band of individuals as they journey to the enchanting Galápagos Islands in search of life’s purpose.
Currently, the spin-off of Keanu Reeves’ John Wick titled Ballerina is still in development, despite a delay of about a year that was announced back in February.
Very recently, the actor reassured fans that the movie will be worth the wait.
She commented, “When they mention reshoots, it’s never a positive sign. It doesn’t sit well with me.” However, everything we filmed during the reshoots was crucial. The footage turned out fantastic.
It’s absolutely stunning. I’ve been informed that a teaser will be released shortly. I’ve had the chance to see it, and let me tell you, it’s breathtaking,” De Armas added.
“I’m very proud of it. It’s really exciting. It’s dangerous, it’s sexy, it’s very John Wick.“
The Informer is available on Netflix UK and Ireland now.
