You can now watch The Woman in the Wall, starring Ruth Wilson (known for Down Cemetery Road and Luther), on Netflix in the UK. It’s a cleverly written thriller with plenty of surprising twists and turns that you won’t want to miss.
The psychological thriller takes place in the made-up Irish town of Kilkinure and centers on Lorna Brady (played by Wilson). She’s stunned to find a dead woman in her home, but has no idea who she is or how she got there. Adding to the mystery, Lorna frequently sleepwalks, causing significant memory loss.
Lorna crosses paths with Detective Colman Akande (Daryl McCormack, known from Bad Sisters), who comes from Dublin investigating a different case. They begin to collaborate, trying to connect the dots and figure out what happened.
When Lorna was a teenager, she was removed from her family and forced to live in a convent – a situation inspired by the real history of the Magdalene laundries. While at the convent, she gave birth to her daughter, Agnes, but Agnes was taken away from her. Now grown, Lorna continues to seek information about what happened to her child.
Joe Murtagh, the writer and creator of The Woman in the Wall, hinted that the woman found dead in Lorna’s house might have held information about the daughter Lorna was forced to give up thirty years ago at a Mother and Baby Home. This discovery could potentially reveal what happened to her child after they were separated.

Ruth Wilson described her character, Lorna, as someone grappling with uncertainty after a woman’s death.
