Amy Schumer shocks fans posing with walker as she reveals secret spinal surgery after surfing accident

Amy Schumer is on the mend following a recent spinal surgery.

The 44-year-old actress, who has lost weight, shared a photo on social media while using a walker, explaining to her followers the reason behind undergoing that particular medical procedure.

‘Since my surfing injury back in the day my L5 has been killing me,’ she explained.

The Emmy winner was seriously injured in a surfing accident while she was in high school.

‘Today I got a laminectomy! It’s a short recovery and when I’m feeling better I will buy a bra!

As a dedicated follower, I’d like to share some insights about a surgical procedure known as a laminectomy. This operation involves the removal of part of the back arch, specifically called the lamina, which is located on the spinal bones and covers the spinal canal. The purpose of a laminectomy is to expand the spinal canal, thereby alleviating pressure on the spinal cord or nerves. By doing so, it aims to improve overall spinal health and relieve associated symptoms.

Approximately a week prior to the operation, Schumer disclosed that she had taken a tumble from a horse while participating in a riding session with her child.

She wrote: “I gathered my courage, mounted my horse again despite being 44 with a troublesome back, and went for a ride and trot. This action served as a powerful demonstration not only to my riding students but also to me.

Additionally, she disclosed that she’d been practicing Pilates, thinking it would ward off a potentially severe injury.

Get well wishes poured in from Schumer’s famous friends and fans.

Helena Christensen exclaimed, ‘The Catskills have never appeared more stunning!’ She wishes Schumer a swift and smooth recovery ❤️, likely referring to the long-sleeved pink shirt worn by the actress. Schumer maintained a cheerful demeanor during her recovery, complementing her top with a vibrant pair of pink joggers.

Kathy Hilton wrote, ‘I hope you feel better soon, my love.’ Connie Love sent the message, ‘I hope you feel better soon!!’ in a friendly manner.

Celebrity photographer Elder Ordonez hoped she would ‘Get well soon Amy ❤️’

In a manner near to her own, Senator Schumer’s current endeavor involves the creation of a documentary titled “Room to Move.” This film explores the story of dancer and choreographer Jenn Freeman, who was diagnosed with autism as an adult.

After seeing the documentary series “Expecting Amy” about Amy Schumer’s challenging pregnancy, Freeman decided to contact director Alexander Hammer. She found a resemblance between her own situation and that of Chris Fischer, who received a diagnosis during the production process of the series.

As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but share that Schumer and Fischer were drawn together in our community, as I believe we are a rather exclusive bunch, and they certainly stand out! (This quote is paraphrased from the original statement made by Amy Schumer to Variety.)

When my spouse is away, some people might not find it appealing, but for us, it’s an opportunity to help break down the stereotypes surrounding autism.

Room to Move debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival in June and is available to watch on Prime.
