Amy Poehler recalls wild airplane ‘fight’ with fellow passenger over swearing in front of a baby

Amy Poehler is looking back on the time she got into a verbal spat with a man on a plane.

Oh my gosh, you guys, I was listening to Amy Poehler’s podcast, ‘Good Hang,’ and it was EVERYTHING. Ana Gasteyer was on, and she was telling this amazing story… honestly, I live for these two together! She was recalling something that happened, and I just HAD to know all the details!

‘I remember being on a plane with you. You got into a fight with a guy,’ she said.

She explained that when her daughter, Frances, now 23, was a baby, a man on a flight became upset because someone was using swear words in front of her.

Amy Poehler explained that she had a run-in with a fellow passenger on a flight. After James Cameron recently mentioned it, she shared that a man in first class asked her to be quieter. Poehler said she responded with a bit of her Boston accent, and things escalated from there.

Gasteyer described the confrontation as ‘the best thing I’ve ever seen.’

I’ll never forget seeing Amy Poehler and Ana Gasteyer together in Mean Girls – it was such a funny movie! And knowing Tina Fey wrote it just makes it even better. They all have such amazing comedic timing, and that movie really showcased it.

The movie was filmed less than a year after Gasteyer gave birth to her daughter.

In the popular film, Gasteyer played Cady’s mother, and the former Saturday Night Live cast member played Regina’s mom.

During the podcast, Gasteyer recalled still remembering when Tina Fey was working on the screenplay for the movie.

She recalled one night when they were having drinks together at a hotel. She remembered Tina being at the table, excitedly saying she wanted to try and secure the rights to a book because she thought it was amazing.

The Good Hang Instagram account teased the actress’ appearance on the show earlier this week.

A selfie of Amy Poehler and Ana Gasteyer was posted with a caption inviting fans to spend time with them tomorrow.

A recent sneak peek announced a Christmas episode featuring Ana Gasteyer, with the caption: ‘Get ready for carols!’

This week’s podcast follows a recent interview with The New York Times where Avatar director James Cameron criticized Amy Poehler.

He was upset about a joke made by a blonde performer more than ten years ago at the 2013 Golden Globes.

At the time, she’d used his short-lived marriage with Kathryn Bigelow as a punchline.

Cameron received a nomination for his film Zero Dark Thirty, a political thriller that showed instances of torture.

At the start of the show, Poehler made a joke, saying she trusted someone who had been married to James Cameron for three years when it came to the topic of torture.

Cameron remembered the incident, explaining that Amy Poehler’s comment was insensitive, especially considering the event is meant to honor movies and the people who make them, not to be a platform for jokes at others’ expense.
