Amy Dowden Stuns in Purple Dress as She Receives MBE for Crohn’s Awareness!
Amy Dowden received an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for her tireless advocacy and representation efforts on behalf of Crohn’s and Colitis UK.
34-year-old Professional Dancer from Strictly, was officially recognized as a Member of the British Empire Order at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, in recognition of her dedication to charity work and increasing public understanding about Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
In 2019, it was disclosed that the celebrity had been coping with Crohn’s disease since her teenage years, following recurring health issues that began at age 11.
Over a prolonged period, this health issue triggers inflammation in various areas of the digestive tract for Amy, leading to symptoms such as puffy eyes, mouth sores, difficulty passing stools, discomfort, nausea, and exhaustion.
She subsequently hosted a BBC program called “Strictly Amy: Crohn’s and My Story,” where she discussed her battles with the disease.
Three years had passed, and after experiencing a flare-up of her Crohn’s disease, she was subsequently hospitalized in Manchester during the Strictly live tour.

Last month, Amy disclosed that she experiences around four to five episodes of unconsciousness daily due to the pain inflicted by her Crohn’s disease.
In a conversation about her ongoing health challenge on Aimee Fuller’s Monday Mile podcast, she elaborated on the intensity of the discomfort she experiences regularly.
Amy pointed out that if it’s assumed a woman is built for childbirth, then she wouldn’t faint during childbirth.
‘I can have four to five black outs, because the pain is that much that my body can’t control it.
‘I suffer from swollen eyes, inflammation in my joints and skin, but I’m incredibly fortunate to be working with an exceptional team. Thanks to them, many of my severe symptoms are now managed and in a state of remission.’
She remarked: ‘I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a fantastic team, however, regrettably, Crohn’s disease is a persistent condition that I must manage throughout my life.’
She now takes eight steroids a day to stay out of hospital.
Last year, Amy came back to Strictly after fighting breast cancer, however, she was compelled to withdraw from the program due to a stress fracture.

Simultaneously, composer John Rutter received recognition for his musical contributions from the King at Buckingham Palace as well.
Known primarily for his choir-focused musical creations, Sir John – who holds multiple roles as a conductor, editor, and arranger – is particularly celebrated for his Christmas carols, hymns, and lengthier pieces like the Gloria, the Requiem, and the Magnificat.
Previously, his works have been requested for significant royal functions such as Queen Elizabeth II’s 50th anniversary celebration and the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011.
In June 2022, during the national service of gratitude for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the first two choral selections were adaptations made by Sir John. Similarly, six musical pieces presented at King Charles’ coronation were also his arrangements.
In 2007, during the New Year Honours, Sir John was appointed as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his contributions to music. More recently, in 2023, he was inducted as a Fellow into The Ivors Academy.
In addition to other esteemed individuals, Jasvinder Sanghera was among those recognized. She was bestowed with the title of Dame Commander in recognition of her dedicated service to those affected by child marriage, forced marriages, and honor-based abuses.

14-year-old Jasvinder, residing in Derby, encountered the possibility of an arranged marriage, yet bravely disregarded her parents’ desires by rejecting and departing from home.
Due to being shunned by her family, she eventually established Karma Nirvana, a pioneering charity, in 1993. This organization is recognized as the United Kingdom’s first dedicated to supporting victims and survivors of honor-based abuse.
Isolated from her family, she ultimately launched the UK’s initial charity specializing in helping those affected by honor-based abuse – Karma Nirvana – in 1993.
Last November, she became the representative for Harrods, championing the cause of individuals who claim they were abused by its late founder, Mohamed Al Fayed.
Jasvinder gratefully expressed her involvement in the project, as she felt confident that the department store aimed to execute it successfully.
