Amy Adams had to be “ready for anything” filming Nightbitch

As a seasoned gamer of life, I must admit that watching Amy Adams transform into Mother in Nightbitch was nothing short of extraordinary. The filming experience seemed to have been as unpredictable and exciting as a high-stakes game of “Keep Away” with a pack of dogs and a 3-year-old.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but express that “Nightbitch” wasn’t merely an opportunity for the exceptional Amy Adams to sink her teeth into an unprecedented role; it also offered her a distinctly unconventional journey through filmmaking.

The upcoming film is adapted from Rachel Yoder’s book, with Adams portraying the character of Mother. After giving up her career to be a homemaker, this character’s life becomes increasingly bizarre as she mysteriously transforms into a canine.

As I chat with Digital Spy, I can’t help but reflect on the unique experience of filming “Nightbitch”. The scenes involving numerous canine co-stars were nothing short of a challenge, let me tell you! It was like herding cats, but with more wagging tails and slobbery kisses. But hey, that’s the charm of it all, right? After all, who wouldn’t want to spend their days surrounded by man’s best friend on a movie set?

In the midst of working with dogs and a three-year-old, I constantly needed to stay alert as the situation was always changing. They were delightful creatures, but the unpredictability made for an engaging work environment that kept me focused and centered, according to Adams.

Maintaining consistency has always been crucial for me to ensure everyone follows our direction each day, and it keeps me focused. It’s also been quite enjoyable.

Sometimes, things didn’t run quite as expected when it came to working with her doggy colleagues, as they were taken aback by the sudden appearance of their human counterpart.

Adams recounted that the dogs were indeed trained; they interacted with someone who appeared very amicable while speaking to them during the training process.

Then, I emerged acting quite dazed, similar to a sleepwalking zombie, which they found unsettling. Their trust in me wavered, and understandably so, as this behavior caused them to become agitated.

In anticipation of the cinema release of “Nightbitch“, Adams also shared insights with “Digital Spy” on how the film brings to light a facet of motherhood that is seldom discussed.

Nightbitch is released in cinemas on December 6.
