Aminé Properly Ushers In Summertime with ’13 Months of Sunshine’

Regardless of location, Aminé seems to always be basking in sunshine. This creative all-rounder has once again dipped into his music bag, bringing us a vibrant and colorful fourth studio album – his first solo studio effort since 2021. Appropriately named “13 Months of Sunshine“, this work draws inspiration from Aminé’s time spent in Mexico City. The 16-track collection is a testament to artistic flexibility, blending various musical influences and genres into a sound that feels like summer.

Pondering love stories, journeys, and life’s glittering moments, “13 Months of Sunshine” initially comes across as a cheerful tune, enveloping us in the wistfulness of bygone summer days.

Title “New Flower” (featuring Leon Thomas) finds Aminé looking back to the start, reflecting on his journey – “Complex wasn’t giving me much / Def Jam had me running errands / Even got one for Big Sean but at least he tipped,” he raps, setting the stage for the playfully flirtatious “Feels So Good.

On the other hand, certain parts of the album show the musician adopting a more reflective stance, such as the song “History” by Waxhatchee which leans towards indie influences, and “Doing The Best I Can,” which comes across as a raw, solo performance.

Apart from “Arc De Triomphe” being credited to The Streets, other tracks on the album are contributed by Monsune, Lido, Aster Aweke, 454, and Toro Y Moi as well.
