Jourdan Blue, a contestant on America’s Got Talent, was arrested in Louisiana on Saturday. She faces several charges, including driving under the influence.
According to a report from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office obtained by EW, the 24-year-old singer-songwriter was charged with several offenses, including driving with a suspended license, having an open container in the vehicle, and careless driving.
Blue was subsequently released from custody Saturday, according to authorities.
Blue, known as the ‘Bourbon Street Soul Singer,’ quickly became a popular contestant on the show. He earned a Golden Buzzer from judge Howie Mandel after a powerful performance of The Script’s ‘Breakeven’.
Blue appeared on the NBC variety series last year for its 20th season, and came in third place.
The Daily Mail has contacted Blue and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office for more information about this story.
Blue is popular on TikTok, with over 864,600 followers and more than 3.4 million likes on his videos.
He shared with People magazine last year that the social media platform where he often posts his music has been crucial to developing his career as a performer.
Blue explained that TikTok allowed them to connect with thousands of people they would never have otherwise encountered, opening up a much wider audience.
It allowed me to improve my skills, become more self-assured, and reach an audience in surprising and meaningful ways.
Blue honed his skills and built a following by livestreaming his performances.
I began livestreaming, and it quickly became my main focus,” Blue explained. “Initially, I wasn’t trying to create a brand; I simply wanted to improve my skills, rehearse, and take requests for new songs.
‘Slowly, I started building a room of people who were there consistently.’
In a recent magazine interview, Blue hinted at a history of struggling with substance abuse, revealing that it once led to him experiencing homelessness.
Let me tell you, I’ve seen a lot of people go through tough times, and it sounds like Blue was really struggling. He recently shared that he went through a period where he wasn’t himself, made some poor choices, and actually experienced a near-fatal drug overdose. It’s a stark reminder that everyone battles things privately, and sometimes those battles can be incredibly dangerous. It takes courage to be open about these experiences, and I commend him for sharing his story – hopefully it can help others reach out for support when they need it most.
He explained that he took too much of something, and those nearby panicked and abandoned him. The following day, some returned to tell him he’d been clinically dead, but somehow survived – it was a miraculous recovery.
The close call made Blue re-evaluate his life, and he decided to stop using drugs, he explained.
I didn’t mean for things to happen the way they did, but I realized a single mistake could have completely changed my life,” Blue explained. “I decided to stop everything all at once. It was really difficult, but being able to overcome that challenge was worth all the effort.
Blue, a father named Jax’s dad, wants to share his love of music – and the valuable lessons it’s taught him – with his son.
For Blue, performing on stage is about more than just the show itself. It’s a way to teach his son that even when life is difficult, it’s possible to overcome challenges and achieve something positive. That’s the lesson he wants his son to remember, and it’s a principle he tries to live by every day.
