America's Got Talent: Judges and audience set weird world record as season 19 auditions conclude on NBC

As a dedicated follower of America’s Got Talent, I have seen countless auditions and world record attempts over the years. Tuesday’s episode was no exception as Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara evaluated an array of acts vying for a spot in the next round.

On Tuesday’s episode of America’s Got Talent on NBC, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Howie Mandel were among the viewers who helped set a new world record in the show’s audience.

In the final auditions of season 19, Nick Manning from Queensland, Australia, aimed to surpass the record holder in the Guinness World Records for the fastest time to put on the most pair of underpants within 30 seconds.

As an eager fan, I watched with bated breath as Michael, the esteemed adjudicator from Guinness World Records, stood by. Yet, despite my unwavering support for Nick, he fell short and couldn’t shatter the existing record of achieving a remarkable 23… (something).

“Terry Crews, apologies, your attempt didn’t surpass the global record. Yet, here’s an opportunity for us to aim for another world record straightaway, isn’t it?” (age: 55)

“Right,” Nick replied, as they unveiled the plan to set a new record with everyone donning underwear on their heads instead.

‘Why?,’ Simon, 64, asked.

Terry shared with the crowd that there was an undergarment waiting under each chair, inviting them all to place it on their heads in an attempt to set a new record.

I’ve been an event coordinator for over a decade now, and I’ve seen my fair share of last-minute surprises. But nothing quite compares to the time when Howie, Heidi, and Sofia were set to make a grand entrance at our charity gala. The excitement in the air was palpable as we prepared for their big reveal.

An assurance was given to Simon that the underwear was fresh and unworn before he put it on his head, joining the other judges.

At the record-breaking event, people danced along to Rod Stewart’s popular hit ‘Da Ya Think I’m Sexy,’ with underwear over their heads for the full minute.

The adjudicator disclosed that the earlier record of 355 people held the title, but this group surpassed it with an astonishing 1,206 individuals donning underwear on their heads.

Nick wasn’t as thrilled as the crowd and judges when they evaluated his performance, despite their initial enthusiasm about setting a new record.

Sofia, aged 52, openly stated that she wasn’t particularly drawn to the pursuit of world records. Simon questioned the difficulty in surpassing Nick’s second record, as he had previously failed during his initial attempt.

Heidi, 51, acknowledged the act was unique, but decided that it also was not a talent.

All four judges voted no and Nick left the stage.

“Gosh, what has went wrong with this program?,” Simon quipped playfully, with underwear on his head yet.

During the two-hour show, no contestants received the Golden Buzzer, as it had already been given to all deserving performers beforehand.

During the episode, 19-year-old Brooke Bailey from Los Angeles drew attention with her rendition of “Ain’t No Way” originally sung by Aretha Franklin.

She received four yes votes from the judges after her impressive audition and advanced.

To begin, the Xpogo team based in Colorado showcased their skills with breathtaking stunts and high jumps using their pogo sticks.

They received four yes votes from the judges.

The Russian Prilepin Quartet, dressed in gray suits, left the judges amazed with their impressive display of acrobatics and strength. In unison, all four judges granted them a affirmative vote.

Japanese Black Peppers brought an exciting international touch to his gymnastics performance with a blend of humor and skill on the pommel horse. The judges appreciated his act and gave him a unanimous approval with a resounding “yes” vote each.

Haley Viloria after her high-flying act earned three judges with only Howie being unimpressed.

Thirty-three-year-old Kelsey Jane from Las Vegas wowed the judges with her aerial performance, earning a total of four “yes” votes.

Nine-year-old New Jersey native, Journeyy, left the judges and crowd enchanted by her performance of Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” resulting in all four affirmative votes.

At the event, Alejandro Licea Pellon from Cuba impressively maintained his balance and earned approval from four judges.

Jonathan Burns recruited Heidi and Sofia for his comedy and magic routine and got four yes votes.

At the competition, Corky Miller, a 63-year-old animal trainer from Tennessee, gave an entertaining performance that impressed both the judges and spectators, resulting in all of them casting affirmative votes for her to advance further.

Towards the close of the episode, it was announced that a fresh “live” Golden Buzzer would be unveiled when the show resumes.

The 2024 Olympics in Paris will be aired live on NBC, causing a shift in their usual TV schedule.

In the episode, Sara Hughes and Kelly Cheng made an appearance. They are set to compete for Team USA in beach volleyball at the Paris Olympics.
