As a fan, I am absolutely ecstatic about Richard Goodall’s victory on America’s Got Talent! This man from Indiana, who had never been on an airplane before, has not only won the hearts of millions but also the coveted $1-million prize and a new car. His life transformation is nothing short of inspiring!
A singing janitor from Indiana won Season 19 of “America’s Got Talent” during Tuesday’s finale.
Richard Goodall, previously unfamiliar with flying, emerged victorious against dance duo Roni Sagi & Rhythm in the NBC reality competition, claiming the sought-after $1-million grand prize and a brand-new automobile for his efforts.
× In response to Simon Cowell’s statement that “two minutes can change your life,” Goodall expressed how his life had been significantly altered, adding that he achieved this feat. As confetti filled the stage, the winner was applauded by the audience. Joining him onstage were Cowell, Heidi Klum, Sofía Vergara, Howie Mandel, and host Terry Crews.
At an elementary school in Terre Haute, Indiana where Goodall had worked for 23 years, students urged him to try out for “America’s Got Talent.” Klum, a fan of his, granted him a special privilege by pressing the Golden Buzzer during a May audition episode after he sang Journey’s timeless song “Don’t Stop Believin’.” In the grand finale, Goodall got to sing the 1981 hit with Neal Schon, co-founder of Journey, and other band members, making his musical journey come full circle.
Goodall often sang popular power ballads from the 1980s, such as “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You” by Michael Bolton, “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor, and “Faithfully” by Journey, during the competition. She would belt out these covers with enthusiasm.
At 56 years old, Goodall emerged victorious on “America’s Got Talent,” making him the oldest winner in the show’s history. He succeeded singing impressionist and ventriloquist Terry Fator, who was just 42 when he clinched the title in Season 2 back in 2007.
Previously during this current season, “America’s Got Talent” accomplished an improbable feat recognized by Guinness World Records: they set the record for the greatest number of individuals who wore underwear on their heads for a duration of at least one minute.
