American Pie Star’s Shocking Aussie Connection & American Pie 5 Update!

Hollywood star Thomas Ian Nicholas has revealed his very surprising connection to Australia.

Known for his role as Kevin Myers in the famed American Pie sex comedy series, the American actor is traveling to Australia to perform with his band, The Thomas Ian Nicholas Band.

Thomas will display his less recognized musical abilities together with his band members, in addition to presenting a viewing of the iconic 1999 movie that catapulted him to fame, and engaging in a question-and-answer session with fans.

In an interview with Daily Mail Australia before the tour, Thomas shared that Australia carries a significant emotional connection for him due to a well-known Australian family member of his.

He has ties with the well-known outlaw Ned Kelly, a figure often considered as one of the most notorious bandits in Australia during the mid-1800s. Known for allegedly operating a large-scale horse theft enterprise in Victoria.

Thomas is fortunate enough to have relatives residing in Western Australia, but unfortunately, his tour won’t allow a stopover to see them. However, he intends to pay a visit to the State Library of Victoria to catch a glimpse of Kelly’s renowned armor instead.

He mentioned that he was somewhat disappointed because he wasn’t able to arrange something on the western coast, as it’s where his entire family resides.

‘I’ve got one cousin whose close to Melbourne who is going to come and see me when I’m there.

I’ve never been to Melbourne before, but I’m eagerly looking forward to visiting the library to catch a glimpse of Ned Kelly’s armor. Interestingly, my great-grandfather has a connection with that, though I’m not sure if he was great-grand or grand-grandsire in relation.

‘I can never remember how many it is, but he was Ned Kelly’s uncle.’

Initially, Thomas gained international fame by playing the character Kevin Myers in the 1999 blockbuster American Pie, and now, he’s touring his music in Australia.

He continued to play the same character in the next three American Pie movies that were released in cinemas, contributing to a movie series that eventually earned over a billion dollars.

Thomas acted alongside an exceptionally talented group of actors that included Jason Biggs, Jennifer Coolidge, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Eugene Levy, Alyson Hannigan, and Seann William Scott in the production.

The movie spun an old yarn about a bunch of high school kids aiming to shed their inexperience before they moved on to college, and Thomas expressed his belief that this flick was bound for massive popularity.

He playfully remarked, “That’s part of the agreement,” referring to the stipulation that he must star in at least four or even five movies, with the condition being that they form a billion-dollar franchise, or else he wouldn’t be interested in participating in the initial project.

The movie was heavily influenced by the bawdy sex-themed comedies popular in the 1970s, like Fast Times at Ridgemont High, National Lampoon’s Porkies, and Animal House.

At first, Thomas discarded the script, believing it to be obscene, but eventually, he became fully engaged with the storyline.

In the unseen opening, I, a devoted admirer, found myself standing beside Vicky, played by none other than Tara Reid. She was imparting some mysterious wisdom to Kevin, guiding him through the art of finger movement, a secret skill I yearned to unlock!

‘I’ll let you put the rest together with your mind,’ Thomas said of the moment.

Initially, I mistakenly thought the script was merely explicit material and discarded it. Only later did I realize that it was a contemporary adaptation of ‘Porkies’, a work I truly appreciate.

In an unexpected twist of fate, the opportunity that would eventually become my breakout role was initially extended to my longtime friend, Andrew Keegan. However, he opted to take on another project instead, paving the way for me to share the screen with the late, great Heath Ledger in a film we both came to cherish deeply.

Initially, they presented their work to me again. Upon giving it a thorough read, I realized the depth of emotion embedded within the characters. It turned out this wasn’t your typical high school romance or comedy about sexual encounters, as he explained.

The narrative was an authentic tale of growing up, resonating with many as they could identify with the characters or knew individuals similar to Stiffler.

The movie gave birth to three successful sequels, and Thomas suggested that a fifth might still be in the works over two decades later, as he mentioned that a potential continuation was recently brought up for discussion.

He mentioned that it was his son, Nolan River, who unintentionally started a chain of events, as he made his first acting appearance in M Night Shyamalan’s 2021 thriller film titled Old.

He clarified that since his son is pursuing a career similar to him, an actor, the information he could provide was limited to that fact.

‘He starred in the M Night Shyamalan movie Old. And that was also a Universal film.

At the premier event, it turned out that neither the President nor the Chairwoman of Universal recognized him as my child.

They exclaimed something along the lines of: “Not possible! Oh my goodness! By the way, we’re discussing American Pie 5.” This happened during the summer of last year, which was 2021.

On the other hand, Thomas mentioned that his expectations took a minor blow when writer Adam Herz informed him he couldn’t reach an agreement with the studio.

He mentioned: ‘It seems that Universal might be considering the idea again. After all, it’s a billion-dollar franchise; it makes sense that they would want to revisit it, doesn’t it?’

Thomas expressed his hope that the much-awaited follow-up to the popular movie “Happy Gilmore,” starring Adam Sandler, might aid in discussing the possibility of a fifth installment of the “American Pie” series.

If people find the tone of Happy Gilmore 2 amusing and well-received, it could mark a return to the period of widespread humor that we’ve been missing out on lately, he stated.

‘I think people are ready for some levity.’
