American parent is left shocked by The Wiggles' very rude gesture on kids' TV show: 'That got my attention!'

As a grandmother who has raised my grandchildren on The Wiggles for years, I was utterly taken aback by this unexpected turn of events. Growing up, The Wiggles were always a beacon of innocence and joy, a source of comfort during those chaotic days of motherhood. However, it seems that the modern-day Wiggles have decided to take a detour from their squeaky clean image and dabble in a bit of mischief.

A U.S. parent was taken aback when the group known as The Wiggles did something impolite and unforeseen during their live TV appearance.

On TikTok under the username The Final Rebrand, the user posted a video, detailing the unexpected incident that caught her interest.

As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but be captivated by the video where they crooned the beloved nursery rhyme, “Where Is Thumbkin?” This classic tune assigns names to each finger and weaves a story through the poem’s engaging dialogue between the characters.

Yet, it was during the part of the song where it mentioned “the tall man” that an unfortunate misunderstanding occurred.

In the tune, the character portrayed as the tall man is symbolically depicted through a gesture often associated with the middle finger. Unwittingly, this action was misconstrued by the parent as a reference to The Wiggles’ well-known gesture known as “flipping the bird.

The parent closely focused on Tsehay Hawkins, the Yellow Wiggle, seemingly making an impolite gesture while flashing a delighted grin, as she expressed her surprise.

The signboard implied that Tsehay was secretly enjoying her subtle gesture of disrespect, as it humorously put it: ‘Tsehay was indicating something inappropriate.’

Expressing her surprise at the seemingly impolite action, she commented with a caption: ‘Well, that certainly grabbed my notice.’

The hilarious post was met with a flurry of comments, with many similarly shocked parents issuing their surprise.

One person commented, ‘I didn’t expect The Wiggles to give us the middle finger in 2024,’ and another responded, ‘The Wiggles just showed us the bird.’

Another fan claimed that it wasn’t the first time they had witnessed The Wiggles slipping in a joke for parents, with Captain Feathersword being a culprit.

“Captain Feathersword addressed those present, singling out mothers who were only interested in ‘Hot’ Purple Wiggle John Pearce.” Here, the original phrase is made more accessible and easier to understand while maintaining its essence.

To me, as a devoted admirer, I can say that the alleged double meaning seemed like old hat to locals who spent their childhood years engrossed in Play School.

Originally hailing from Australia, it was through watching John, Noni, and Benita on Play School that the founding members of this group grew up. This show, teeming with parental in-jokes, was a significant part of their childhood.

Back in 2016, beloved figure from Play School, Noni Hazlehurst, disclosed that she and her co-host John Hamblin often added some humorous adult-oriented jokes during their show, aiming to keep everyone amused.

The debate over swearing arises as Wiggles star John prepares for his first experience as a father.

In June of this year, John and his wife, Jesse (who got married in 2019), announced they are having their first baby.

In a heartwarming Instagram post, I shared a deeply moving video showcasing the moment we learned that Jessie is expecting. Excitingly, I can now announce that it’s a baby boy on the way!

They titled their post, “After a lengthy voyage, our beloved guardian has graciously joined us.

They are eagerly awaiting the last few days before they welcome their newborn son, who’s expected to arrive this month.
