Amber Heard returns to acting for the first time in two years… after Johnny Depp legal drama and welcoming twins
Approximately two years since her last on-screen appearance, Amber Heard is reappearing in the acting world, doing so in an unexpected manner.
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, the 39-year-old individual embarked on her acting career in the 2004 movie “Friday Night Lights”. Since then, she has consistently worked in both movies and TV shows.
Her career experienced a significant decline as a result of prolonged legal disputes with her former husband, Johnny Depp. Notably, she was recently featured in two upcoming movies slated for 2023: the independent film “In the Fire” and the superhero sequel “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”.
Since then, she’s relocated to Madrid, Spain, surprising her followers when she revealed on Mother’s Day that she had given birth to fraternal twins – a little girl named Agnes and a baby boy called Ocean.
Currently, it appears she is preparing to return to work, even though her upcoming show isn’t intended for a large public audience.
She will first appear on stage for a performance that is the initial staging of playwright Jeremy O. Harris’ (known for Slave Play) latest work titled Spirit of the People, as reported by Variety.

2025’s first-ever performance of this production is scheduled for the Williamstown Theatre Festival held in Williamstown, Massachusetts, which is located in the northwestern part of the state.
In simple terms, the 2025 festival is scheduled for July 17 until August 3, but it remains undetermined as to when “Spirit of the People” will make its first appearance during this period.
At present, there’s no information disclosed about Amber Heard’s character, yet she is part of a cast that recently includes Brandon Flynn and Lío Mehiel, whose addition was announced on Monday alongside hers.
Among the talented individuals joining our upcoming production are Tony Award nominees Ato Blankson-Wood and James Cusati-Moyer, along with Amandla Jahava, Emma Ramos, Julian Sanchez, Zachary Booth, and Tonatiuh. As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to see such a diverse and accomplished group of actors coming together for this project.
According to its official description, the play, under the direction of Katina Medina Mora, tackles hard-hitting realities concerning land and the act of destroying it.
Harris, well recognized for his 2018 Tony-contending Stage Play and scriptwriting for A24’s Zola, stated that this upcoming project signifies a shift in comparison to his past endeavors.
Harris confessed that he aimed to push his limits as he chose a play where half of it was in Spanish, a language he’s not proficient in.
He commented, “‘The play contains quite a bit of written narrative. However, I’m not primarily a narrator; I’m experimenting with various techniques.’

She verified her role personally by posting on Instagram for the first time after announcing the arrival of her twins, sharing a selfie featuring herself and playwright Harris.
In the realm of my theatrical past, I shared this image without divulging specific details about the part I played or the show itself.
Despite multiple speculations, the actress hasn’t disclosed the identity of her twins’ father publicly, although she did post a picture of their little feet in May to announce the news.
2025 will be an unforgettable Mother’s Day for me, as it marks the culmination of years of efforts in creating my family. I am overjoyed to a degree that words fail me, and today I’m thrilled to announce some wonderful news: I have welcomed twins into our household, expanding the Heard family. My little girl Agnes and my boy Ocean are already keeping my hands (and my heart) busy.
Four years ago when I welcomed my first daughter Oonagh into the world, my life was irrevocably transformed. I couldn’t imagine feeling any happier, but now, I find myself brimming with joy not just once, but threefold!
‘Experiencing motherhood independently, despite my personal fertility hurdles, has been the most humbling journey of my life. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the ability to make this decision consciously. To all mothers, regardless of your unique paths, my family and I are joining in your celebrations today. With love, A x.’
