Amber Davies has paused her performances in the musical Legally Blonde again, only a day after returning to the stage. This comes following reports of a disagreement with her replacement.
The 29-year-old star of Strictly Come Dancing is currently starring as Elle Woods in the West End’s stage version of the famous movie.
Earlier this month, Amber had to take two weeks off from performing because she was sick with a chest infection.
She came back to the show as expected on Tuesday, but didn’t appear the next night.
Amber shared an update on Instagram, explaining that her doctor wants her to take things slowly and build up her strength gradually as she recovers.
Okay, so she finally posted! And it explains everything! Apparently, she was really sick – the doctor actually told her to take it easy and ‘walk before she runs,’ which, honestly, is SO her. She had to cut one show this week to get a whole day to recover. I was SO worried, but knowing she’s prioritizing her health… it makes me love her even more! I’m just glad she’s coming back as Elle, even if it means a little break. It’s worth it to see her shine!
I won’t be able to perform in today’s afternoon show. I’ll be back for the evening performance, and Saturday will be my first matinee back.
I’m starting back slowly with six shows this week, then returning to my regular schedule of seven next week! Last night’s show was amazing – it feels so good to be performing again, I’m speechless!
When Amber is not performing, her understudy Hannah Lowther steps into the role as Elle.
Recently, Amber had to respond to rumors about an ongoing disagreement with the actress.
She recently addressed rumors online, clarifying that she isn’t quitting her job, taking a break, or having a disagreement with anyone. She explained she’s just finishing a course of antibiotics for a chest infection she’s been battling for over a month.
As someone who’s spent years observing how people pursue their passions, I’ve noticed a pattern: what we love to do for work, what truly drives us, can actually take a real toll on our bodies. It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking we’re superhuman, but honestly, we’re not. It’s crucial to remember that even the most fulfilling careers require us to prioritize our physical wellbeing.
Look, everyone gets sick sometimes – it’s just part of being human. Honestly, I was really frustrated to see people questioning the dedication of women who work incredibly hard. It’s unfair to imply anything less, and I want to celebrate those who consistently put in the effort!
I’m excited to return to performing as soon as I’m able. I truly appreciate my wonderful cast and crew in Legally Blonde, and I’m especially thankful for the support of Hannah Lowther.
Hannah, a TikTok star with 1.3 million followers and training from the Italia Conti Academy, is reportedly facing backstage drama. Sources suggest her colleagues believe she’s exceptionally talented, as recently reported by Daily Mail+’s Olivia Kemp.
Hannah used Instagram to deny rumors of a disagreement, and Amber quickly showed her support with a comment.
Hannah posted a video of herself getting ready for a show, and wrote a message expressing her wish for a world where women aren’t constantly compared to each other.
She went on to describe a world where everyone could flourish, get by, or simply live without facing negativity and criticism from others.
Alongside the clip, she added: ‘Exhausting actually…please be kind’, alongside a love-heart emoji.
The show faced criticism from fans because several people involved in the production became sick over the past few weeks.
People who bought tickets for the Milton Keynes show are disappointed to learn it will now be a concert-style performance due to several cast members being sick.
A TikTok video revealed that, due to some late cast changes, the show would be performed differently than planned. Instead of fully staging it, the actors would sit on stage and read their lines and sing the songs from scripts, skipping all scenes and costume changes.
Some viewers were happy the show wasn’t cancelled, but others felt they didn’t get the performance they expected for the price of their tickets.
