I’ve been following Amber Davies on Strictly, and it’s interesting – she keeps saying all her stage experience doesn’t really help! She’s used to performing, sure, but ballroom and Latin are totally new to her, so she’s starting from scratch just like the rest of us non-dancers.
The 29-year-old recently explained that people don’t realize how much effort she puts into her performances. She’s often compared to the professional dancers on the show, and she wants viewers to understand the physical and mental toll her dance training takes.
As a huge fan, I was so excited to see Ms. Davies’ Charleston last week! What many people don’t know is that she actually performed the exact same routine earlier this year when she was in The Great Gatsby at the London Coliseum. It’s amazing to see her bring it back – it’s clearly a piece she loves and really shines with!
No wonder she was handed the maximum four tens from the judges.
Amazing video shows the former Love Island contestant recreating dance routines she originally performed on the BBC show in a West End production. This seems to confirm she has a significant edge over the other competitors.
In the song ‘The Great Gatsby’s New Money,’ Ms. Davies performs a dance wearing a dark green top and black satin pants. The outfit and choreography closely resemble her performance on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The video was filmed at West End Live, a large performance event held in Trafalgar Square on June 21st, featuring popular musicals and plays.
From April to September, Ms. Davies starred as Jordan Baker in a stage adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel. She’s also performed in West End musical productions of 9 to 5, Back to the Future, and Pretty Woman.

This discovery brings up questions about who is creating the dances on the BBC show, as traditionally, that has been the responsibility of the professional dancers.
According to a source, Amber has repeatedly expressed frustration with the criticism she’s received, portraying herself as a victim. However, video footage has surfaced showing she actually used a dance routine from a musical she previously performed in professionally.
When Dani Dyer had to withdraw from Strictly due to a broken ankle, Ms. Davies stepped in as a replacement. It quickly became clear she was well-prepared, having trained at the renowned Urdang Academy in London, which specializes in musical theatre and dance.
Last week, professional dancer Luba Mushtuk shared a message on Instagram addressing online negativity. She explained she’s simply doing her best, after previously being told she was too skilled for the show, and acknowledged that some people are being unkind.
According to a BBC representative, Ms. Davies performed a new dance routine on Strictly Come Dancing last week that included a short tribute to The Great Gatsby, fitting with the show’s Musicals Week theme.
