Amazon says Gen V season 2 is coming in 2025

As a dedicated gamer and avid fan of The Boys universe, I can’t help but feel both excited and impatient as we approach the release of Gen V season 2 and the final season of The Boys. With the Season 4 finale of The Boys airing in July 2024 and Gen V season 2 set to premiere before The Boys season 5, I’m eagerly anticipating the next installment of stories set in this fascinating world.

The final episode of The Boys season 4 is scheduled for July 2024. As a result, there’s great anticipation for the second season of Gen V, which continues the storyline in the universe of The Boys.

Previously announced, “Gen V” season 2 will arrive on Prime Video prior to “The Boys” season 5, marking the latter’s final chapter. Following the conclusion of “Gen V” season 1, there was much discussion about how seamlessly it passed the baton and prepared the ground for “The Boys” season 5, both taking place in the same world at approximately the same time. In turn, “The Boys” have now reciprocated this connection by laying the foundation for “Gen V” season 2.

More recently, Vernon Sanders, the chief television executive at Amazon MGM Studios, shared with The Wrap in an interview that “Gen V” season 2 is planned to air in the year 2025.

We are in production now. We’ve been in production for several weeks now, probably a month or two and I’m hoping that will be out next year.

Approximately a few weeks ago, we received news that the filming for Gen V’s second season had commenced once more. Initially, there were rumors production would start earlier, but those plans were postponed following the tragic passing of star Chance Perdomo in March 2024. According to recent updates, filming for season 2 started in May 2024.

The duration of producing Gen V season 2 is yet to be determined. Should production commence in May, it might finish around fall. Following production, there will be post-production work before the second season becomes available for viewing.

As a long-time fan of the Gen V series, I can’t contain my excitement as I share this news with you. We’re finally getting a new season in 2025! Although an exact release date is yet to be announced, based on my experience with past seasons and industry trends, I’d confidently predict it will drop somewhere between spring or summer of that year. This is fantastic news for us fans who have eagerly awaited new episodes, and I can hardly wait to immerse myself in the captivating world of Gen V once again.

Regarding the upcoming fifth season of “The Boys” in 2025, Eric Kripke revealed to Variety that filming will commence in November and continue until mid-year. Given the complexity of producing a full season and the time required for editing, it seems unlikely that the series will be released by the end of 2025.

A few days ago, I was thrilled to read Karl Urban’s Instagram post confirming that new seasons of “The Boys” are on the way, with a predicted release in 2026.

So, that’s the timeline: Gen V season 2 in 2025 followed by The Boys season 5 in 2026.

We’ve got a lengthy stretch ahead of us before we can enjoy Gen V season 2 in the upcoming year. But on the bright side, that wait will be worth it. And following that, we’ll be treated to the last installment of The Boys a year after that.

In plain terms, it’s understandable why Prime Video releases these shows with a gap between them. Both contain numerous action scenes, visual effects, and computer-generated imagery, which require extensive production time. Additionally, as they share connections in their narratives, the creators are likely aware of where one series will pass the baton to the other in terms of story progression.

I’ve noticed an intriguing pattern with Prime Video’s release schedule for their similar shows. For instance, I watched the third season of “The Boys” in 2022, then the first season of “Gen V” in 2023, and finally, the fourth season of “The Boys” in 2024. The same goes for “The Wheel of Time,” where I saw season 1 in 2021, followed by “The Rings of Power” in 2022, and then season 2 of “The Wheel of Time” in 2023.

Stay tuned for more news about Gen V season 2 and The Boys season 5.
