The planned reboot of the classic film RoboCop, originally announced by Amazon MGM in late 2024, is currently stalled in development.
A recent report from The Ankler details Amazon MGM executive Peter Friedlander’s plans for revivals and reboots of the studio’s properties. One project is a RoboCop reboot, which had been in development for a while but was previously rejected by the previous leadership. In September 2024, Peter Ocko (Lodge 49) was brought on to write, executive produce, and serve as showrunner for the series, according to sources.
The report also noted that Friedlander has been meeting with Prime Video executives to discuss ideas for the sci-fi action series, but significant progress hasn’t been made yet.
