Amazon finds new James Bond producers after taking over from Broccoli family

According to Amazon MGM Studios’ announcement on Tuesday, Amy Pascal, who previously headed film production at Sony, and “Harry Potter” producer David Heyman have been chosen to serve as the new producers for the upcoming James Bond movie.

The news arrives barely a month following an agreement between veteran Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson with a tech company, relinquishing creative authority over the franchise. Despite this shift, they remain co-owners of the Bond franchise that was previously managed by Albert R. Broccoli, their forebear.

Amazon gained the distribution rights for Bond when it purchased MGM Studios in 2022.

Pascal and Heyman expressed their gratitude for being able to carry on the legacy set by Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, who have created numerous outstanding Bond films. They are thrilled and eager to preserve the essence of Bond as he embarks on his next exciting journey.

Pascal has been a producer for the last three Spider-Man films featuring Tom Holland and also the Spider-Verse films, while Heyman was involved in every one of the eight Harry Potter movies.

For eighteen years, Pascal worked at Sony, even holding the position of its head in films. However, in 2015, she decided to leave following a cyber attack that exposed confidential emails and a series of embarrassing leaks. During her tenure at Sony, Pascal earned acclaim in Hollywood as an executive who supported filmmakers and was instrumental in producing some of the studio’s most successful movies. She is also recognized for her discerning taste and gentle approach when dealing with talent, such as Adam Sandler.

After the Culver City studio endured a string of setbacks, it was discovered that their computer systems had been targeted in a cyber-attack by a mysterious group known as “Guardians of Peace.” Suspicions later arose among U.S. authorities that this attack may have originated from North Korea’s government.
