Amanda Seyfried’s new thriller series drops haunting first trailer
The initial trailer for Amanda Seyfried’s latest thriller series titled “Long Bright River” has been made public, hinting at a chilling link between the main character and a string of gruesome killings.
According to Liz Moore’s 2020 bestselling novel with the same title, “Long Bright River” showcases Mamma Mia! star as Mickey Fitzpatrick, a police officer who patrols in a Philadelphia neighborhood struggling with the opioid epidemic.
In the trailer, Mickey steps out of her usual role and delves deeper than her assigned duties when she begins probing a series of female murders in the neighborhood. Her inquiry leads her to worry that the killings might affect those she cares about deeply, specifically her missing younger sister Kacey, who could potentially be the next victim.
Accompanied by a haunting version of “Lovesong” by The Cure, the video chronicles Mickey’s determination to shield the street workers from whoever poses a threat to them.
As I delve further into the chilling mystery, my heart races as I recognize visions of Kacey and realize that the murderer might be someone familiar to me. A shockwave runs through me when I spot a red pickup truck – the same one my sister was last seen in – parked ominously near my home.
At long last, I’ll abandon this quest once I’ve found her, I tell my companion, who advises me to call it off. As a gamer, I understand the importance of perseverance in the face of adversity, but even I know when to concede and move on.
The television series Long Bright River is penned and executive produced by Moore and Nikki Toscano, who was a co-showrunner for Hunters on Prime Video. Alongside the stars Nicholas Pinnock, Ashleigh Cummings, Callum Vinson, and John Doman, this production also features them.
In a shared announcement last year, Moore and Toscano expressed their excitement, stating, “Amanda Seyfried will headline our series, exploring the empowerment of individuals initially seen as victims who unite to reclaim their strength.
As a passionate admirer, I can confidently say that the captivating series we’re discussing was significantly influenced by Moore’s personal background and her tireless work in Philadelphia’s harm-reduction and community service organizations. This compelling narrative strives to offer a compassionate portrayal of individuals battling addiction and their loving families, reflecting Moore’s deep empathy for these stories.
Long Bright River will start streaming on Peacock in the US on March 13.
