Amanda Seyfried says Mamma Mia 3 is a “done deal” – and reveals her dream co-stars

Like many fans, Amanda Seyfried would love to star in a third Mamma Mia! movie and has even thought about who she’d want to see in it.

Lindsay Lohan, who will soon appear in the musical drama The Testament of Ann Lee, has indicated that a third Mamma Mia movie is still a possibility.

So, I was reading an interview with the actress who plays Sophie, and she basically said a return to that Greece storyline is definitely still being considered. She even joked it’s not just on the table, it’s burning right through it! Sounds like there’s a good chance we haven’t seen the last of that location and her character’s story there.

I could be wrong, or maybe I’m just being optimistic, but I really believe a third Mamma Mia movie is happening, she added.

Regarding the possibility of a third installment, actress Seyfried expressed a desire to see her character, Sophie, further explore her role as a mother in future storylines.

“I love portraying a mum, so I would love to see Sophie with her kids,” she said.

The movie Mamma Mia!, which came out in 2008, tells the story of Sophie as she plans her wedding and tries to discover who her father is. Amanda Seyfried played Sophie, and Meryl Streep starred as Donna, her mother and the owner of a hotel on a made-up Greek island.

Ten years after the first Mamma Mia! movie, the sequel Here We Go Again brought back many of the original actors for another story, and added Cher to the cast.

So, it sounds like Seyfried wants to see even more female singers join the third movie! She’s totally on board with that idea, which is awesome – I’d love to hear some new voices in the mix too.

Amanda Seyfried suggested a pop star and another actor should be cast alongside Sophie in the next Mamma Mia movie.

She suggested Sophie might have a long-lost cousin, and that cousin could be Sabrina Carpenter.

Sydney Sweeney might join the project, and there are many other talented actresses who are also interested, which I fully support.

Even though Amanda Seyfried is excited about it, there’s been no official word yet about whether a third movie will actually happen.

Earlier this year, Christine Baranski, who plays Tanya in the Mamma Mia! movies, addressed speculation about a third film. She mentioned meeting with producer Judy Craymer, which fueled the rumours.

Honestly, there’s nothing new to report right now. Last time I even hinted at something, it blew up online – and it was just a guess on my part, anyway!

So, I’m good friends with Judy Craymer, the woman who really made Mamma Mia! happen, and she’s super keen on making a third movie! It sounds like it could actually happen, which is amazing!
