Amanda Knox says Monica Lewinsky is like her ‘big sister’ while speaking about upcoming Hulu series
Amanda Knox has found comfort in “the sisterhood of ill repute.”
On a vibrant weekend at the University of Southern California’s Ronald Tutor Campus Center during the L.A. Times Festival of Books, I, as a passionate cinephile, stood before a gathering of more than 200 individuals, and I openly discussed my shared experiences with women who have been subjected to public ridicule.
Monica Lewinsky was the initial person within that particular circle she encountered, and she expressed that their connection held significance for her.
Knox explained that she demonstrated a way to reclaim control over one’s personal journey in life, as she told the moderator Amy Kaufman from The Times.
2007 saw Amanda Knox being falsely accused of killing her roommate, Meredith Kercher, while studying overseas in Italy. She endured close to four years behind bars for a crime she didn’t commit until ultimately being proven innocent.
World & Nation
Amanda Knox argues that the media constructed an incorrect storyline about her, portraying her as guilty even though she’s been proven innocent.
At a past gathering where they were both presenting, Knox recounted first encountering Lewinsky. It was the instance when Knox decided to publicly share her story for the first time, and she sought an opportunity to engage with Lewinsky, whom she had eagerly read and admired prior. In her own words, “I felt remarkably understood by this individual before we even met.
As for me, she’s become more like a big sister to me now, and honestly, I couldn’t be more thankful for her presence in my life.
Collaborators Knox and Lewinsky are joining forces to produce an upcoming Hulu series called “Amanda,” based on Knox’s ordeal of being falsely accused and convicted. This series, which goes by the title “Amanda,” was originally conceived by K.J. Steinberg and is still undergoing development.
In the past, Knox has openly expressed concerns regarding how Hollywood handles true crime narratives. Now, she expresses gratitude for being given a voice in the most recent portrayal of events from her life in the media.
Perhaps the originator could offer valuable insights into how their narrative unfolds, as they may be an abundant wellspring of creativity,” she suggested.
