Amanda Holden tells Paul Mescal he’s as ‘solid as a kitchen worktop’ during VERY flirty interview – while Gladiator II star admits prep for the film involved him stripping in front of his trainer
Oh, the thrill of being an ardent fan never fades! The way Amanda Holden gushed over Paul Mescal during their radio interview was nothing short of enchanting. I could feel the electricity in the air as she complimented him, and his humble yet charming response made my heart skip a beat. As a long-time admirer of both their work, it was like a dream come true to witness such a captivating exchange.
As a lifestyle aficionado, I found myself in a delightful conversation about Paul Mescal recently. On a casual Friday, I had the pleasure of sharing a warm embrace with him that left him slightly flustered, I must add! Intriguingly, I likened his physique to a sturdy kitchen worktop – it was as solid as you can imagine. Quite an impressionable moment, wouldn’t you agree?
During an interview on Heart Radio, the presenter (age 53) and co-host Jason ‘K’ King (age 49) were discussing with the Gladiator II actor (age 28) about the movie when their conversation shifted to a playful banter, as she admired his physical appearance.
After giving him a quick hug, Amanda remarked, “You’re as sturdy as a kitchen countertop!
Clearly flattered by the compliment, Paul responded: ‘Excellent, my trainer will be delighted.’
Later on, JK added humorously, “Have you ever been compared to a countertop in the kitchen?” To which Paul promptly responded, “That’s definitely a new one for me.
In her ongoing comparison, Amanda explained, “Instead of using marble, which is porous, let me suggest we consider granite instead.
Regardless of the unconventional nature of her remarks, Paul handled Amanda’s comments gracefully when he replied with, “Fantastic, even more impressive!
At the same time, Amanda asked Paul for details regarding the unusual preparations his trainer made as he prepared for his leading role in Gladiator II, where he portrays Lucius Verus.
She inquired: ‘Was it accurate that when you began, your personal trainer assessed you by walking around you to determine his training approach?’
Paul responded with: “Indeed, he suggested I take off my pajamas and get undressed to my underwear. I obliged. He then circled around me and visualized a mental image of how my physique might transform over the next few months.
Later, Amanda inquired about the measures Paul adopted to sculpt his physique for the movie, probing if there were dietary and alcohol adjustments he needed to make as part of his regular routine.
Paul mentioned that the primary challenges were the diet and exercise, as they mainly demanded time and persistence. Fortunately, he was able to manage his alcohol intake reasonably throughout this process.
Afterward, Amanda stated, “Indeed, as wine is beneficial for health and it was originally created by the Romans who enjoyed consuming it,” to which Paul humorously replied, “Drinking wine is just a part of the ‘acting method.’
Recently, Paul shared that he had become extremely strong following his rigorous training for Gladiator II, feeling his physique was capable of causing genuine harm after the sessions.
After training with a personal trainer, horseback riding, and mastering combat techniques, the Irish actor expressed that he gained the strength needed to tackle the character of Lucius.
Without any prior background in bodybuilding or exercising, the actor underwent a remarkable transformation specifically for his role in Ridley Scott’s upcoming sequel, debuting this past Friday.
He told The Sun: ‘You start feeling like your body can inflict damage, which is weird.
It significantly alters how you navigate and function, offering an enjoyable experience especially if it’s all pretend.
The thespian, who rose to fame as Connel Waldron in the BBC’s lockdown smash hit Normal People, plays the son of Russell Crowe’s legendary Maximus.
Despite Lucius (Paul) having been deceased, buried, and enslaved by General Marcus (Pedro Pascal), it’s still his vengeful spirit that seeks freedom in the film. This separation from his wife and daughter had forced him to fight for his liberty.
In the second installment of “Gladiator,” set some years after the initial storyline, we find Lucius – the offspring of Lucilla from the first film – residing in Numidia, a part of northern Africa.
Despite being taken to Numidia during his childhood, the movie chronicles Lucius’ journey back to Rome, where he seeks to reconnect with his mother, but encounters strife along the way.
The movie that took two decades to create has received acclaim from critics, while fans have applauded Paul’s acting skills.
