Amanda Holden feared for Simon Cowell’s safety during ‘dangerous’ weapon stunt as she bemoans lack of health and safety during the Britain’s Got Talent auditions

Amanda Holden has shared that she was concerned about her fellow contestant Simon Cowell’s well-being following an alarming weapon demonstration during a Britain’s Got Talent tryout.

This year at the initial rounds of the ITV show, I, a die-hard fan, had the sheer delight of witnessing the renowned judge, aged 53, alongside the iconic Simon Cowell. Together, we scrutinized and encouraged potential contestants vying for their well-deserved spot on the stage.

However, during her appearance on Heart Breakfast on Monday, she disclosed a potentially risky incident that transpired over the weekend, which had the involvement of the influential figure in music.

She mentioned: “I’ve been enjoying Britain’s Got Talent for several days in lovely Blackpool! However, let me be honest, Simon Cowell apparently took some action on it.

‘Well, he was involved in an act yesterday is all I’m going to say.

‘It seemed so risky to me that, as I watched, I couldn’t help but question whether it was prudent for him to participate in it.’

When Jason King (substituting for Jamie Theakston) inquired about potential concerns regarding health and safety, Amanda assured him that there were no such issues present.

She mentioned that she finds it bothersome when there is an excessive amount of high-visibility clothing and health and safety measures around. It makes her feel frustrated, and she wonders where these precautions were needed.

‘Yeah, and the only note Simon was given was “don’t move!”

Indeed, he shifted position as he mentioned feeling a gust from an unusually close… let me put it this way, a nearby weapon seemed to be grazing his head. Frankly, it was quite distressing to observe.

‘Because also, the act involved a lot of food and a lot of crushing, so the stage was very slippy. 

Even though precautions might have been taken, the moving floor introduced an element of danger.

What on earth was going on? It was insane! Regardless, considering the circumstances and undeniably Simon’s courage, he still needed to change his clothes.

This year, the well-known talent show that previously brought talents such as Susan Boyle, Diversity, and Sydnie Christmas (last year’s winner) into the spotlight, is set to make a comeback on your television screens.

In October, auditions for series 18 were called off due to the unexpected passing of Liam Payne, who was just 31 years old. The unfortunate incident happened earlier that month when Liam, a previous X Factor competitor, fell from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Argentina.

Since the show’s debut in 2007, Amanda has been a regular feature, while earlier in her career she graced the stages of West End musicals like “Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Just days ago, she revealed a huge spoiler for the new series on her radio show.

She mentioned that it’s Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) season now. This year, we’ll be conducting the auditions in Blackpool, and she finds herself extremely busy. She’s managing both Heart radio and the Blackpool events, and she’s involved in everything!

Yesterday, there was an unusual number of birds on stage – a spoiler alert for those who might be monitoring the producers. I’m not sure if they’re paying attention or not.

Allow me to clarify beforehand that our situation was unique. We encountered a seagull performing acrobatics on a vertical pole, a man entertaining crowds with his rubber chicken acts, and another individual who penned a tune for Bruno while perched atop a colossal rooster!
