Amanda Holden Defies Rules with Golden Buzzer Surprise Amid Fix Claims

Amanda Holden spoke out regarding the allegations of a “fix” on Britain’s Got Talent, following a storm of reactions from viewers due to a surprising audition.

During the audition process for the talent competition, controversy over alleged fixing arose, and judge Amanda, aged 54, has recently pondered over the ensuing commotion as we approach this coming Sunday evening’s grand finale.

In the final audition round, singer Max Fox astonished both the judges and spectators by unexpectedly shouting from the crowd, begging for an opportunity to perform a song.

Amanda and her co-judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, and KSI seemed perplexed by the unexpected interruption, leading some spectators to suspect it may have been orchestrated by the show’s producers as part of a prearranged plan.

Although Max wasn’t initially scheduled for an audition, he was unexpectedly granted the opportunity to perform a stirring rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.” His powerful delivery left the judges in awe, even prompting some to tears, and ended with a standing ovation.

In the heat of the moment, Amanda pushed the Golden Buzzer, despite having used it earlier. This unexpected action ignited criticism on social media, with fans labeling it as a violation of the rules and calling it an unfair advantage for Amanda.

During their Heart Breakfast show appearance together on Saturday, Amanda clarified some misconceptions, providing insights into the true events that transpired backstage.

During the interview with Max, Amanda countered accusations that the scene was staged, emphatically stating that everything was genuine. She then shared her reasons for activating the Golden Buzzer, attributing it to the audience’s emotional response.

First off, let’s ask you to share the experience with our listeners and guide Jamie step-by-step, since you were one of the spectators.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but confirm this with utter certainty. Right there among the crowd, I found myself seated, none other than the legendary Max himself. In that very moment, a pause in the auditions occurred – a brief intermission as we waited for the stage to be readied or some other adjustments.

Additionally, you began calling out Simon’s name, after which you proceeded to narrate the tale. Can you share with us the events that culminated in that particular instance?

As an ardent admirer, allow me to share my own take on Max’s account: “Well, it was sort of a spur-of-the-moment thing, you know? I found myself pleading to Simon, almost begging for a chance, because the dream of singing had been burning within me for nearly two decades.

However, it’s often not commonly understood that numerous preliminary rounds take place before the audience sees the judges, as thousands of contestants typically participate in these trials.

‘Thousands of them, yeah,’ Amanda added.

Jamie inquired, “Were you uncertain that I wouldn’t be removed from the situation, or were you apprehensive because this wasn’t the usual course of events?

Amanda said: ‘Well, it’s definitely not how it happens. It’s never happened.’

Max explained, “I indeed had that thought crossing my mind: Might they kick me out of here? But then I reasoned, there might be a chance for a ‘yes.’ So, I pondered on it and figured, why not give it a shot?

Jaime asked: ‘So, then what happened?’, before Max added: ‘I ended up getting a yes from Simon.’

Amanda explained, “Simon called him up to the stage, and we allowed him a brief moment to gather himself backstage, as we had our scheduled performance next.

Afterward, he arrived and carried out his action, leaving the events that followed as part of the past. However, I feel compelled to address some speculation circulating on social media regarding its genuineness.

‘Well because it does sound a bit like a set up,’ Jamie said.

Amanda exclaimed, “It feels just like a film! The moment I hit the golden buzzer, I declared, ‘Let’s wrap it up now.’ This is as if we’ve reached the climax of the most extraordinary movie ever made about Max.

Max said: ‘It is beautiful I’ve watched it back.’

Speaking up about her decision to use the Golden Buzzer, Amanda said: “Everything I said is accurate! The crowd was absolutely thrilled, so much so that it felt like my ears were hurting and I couldn’t help but push the golden buzzer.

As a devoted spectator, it was unprecedented for me to witness such an extraordinary event unfold – for the very first time, an attendee took the stage, grasped the opportunity, and earned the coveted Golden Buzzer.

Simon equally vehemently refutes the allegations that the situation was staged, going as far as proposing to undergo a polygraph test.

The influential figure in the music industry argued that the audition was genuine, stating he was unaware of Max’s intentions beforehand.

He suggested to The Mirror, “I believe it would be beneficial for me to undergo a polygraph test in the future to corroborate my honesty. As events like these unfold, there is an immediate assumption of manipulation.

He added: ‘ frankly, I wouldn’t go through the trouble of setting up a planted audience member. However, it appears that is precisely what transpired.’

For the very first time, a spectator during the broadcast dared to ask for an opportunity to audition, and was granted it.

Simon added that he knew the moment was genuine based on how security responded when Max stood up.

He remembered thinking: “The reaction of the security team confirmed its authenticity. It appeared as if they were preparing to prevent a stage rush or an attempt to reach me.

After his audition, Max shared that it was his deceased grandfather, who passed away 7 years back, who inspired him to give the auditions a shot.

At his audition, Max chose to perform the exact song he had sung during the funeral of a cherished relative, as a heartfelt homage to them.

In an interview with The Mirror, he shared: “My grandfather was encouraging me subconsciously. He had faith in me all along. He also had a bit of a daring spirit – I undeniably inherited that from him.

‘I really believe he helped make this happen. I sang My Way at his funeral. It felt right.’

For 19 long years, Max confessed that he’s been striving to make it onto the talent show ever since he turned 16. Finally, at last, he got the chance to perform on the show and earned his Golden Buzzer.

In the end, Max wasn’t part of the final group competing for a £250,000 cash reward; instead, it was Jasmine, Ping Pang Pong, Vinnie McKee, The Blackouts, Olly Pearson, and Stacey Leadbeatter who were in contention.

Tune into the Heart Breakfast show, featuring Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, every weekday between 6:30 AM and 10:00 AM on various radio stations throughout the UK or on the Global Player app.
