Always Sunny star shares first look at crossover with Abbott Elementary
As a longtime fan of both “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “Abbott Elementary“, I must say that this crossover episode is like a dream come true! Growing up in Philly, these shows have always been a source of pride for me, capturing the unique spirit and humor of my hometown.
Actor Rob McElhenney, who plays on “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” recently unveiled a sneak peek of the series’ forthcoming crossover episode.
After several months of buzz and anticipation about a possible crossover between the popular sitcoms created by Quinta Brunson, namely Abbott Elementary and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, it was officially confirmed that these two comedies would indeed share a common storyline.
A while back, Brunson and McElhenney announced a special episode, and recently, McElhenney shared with the audience the first glimpse of their cherished characters reunited.
Taking to Instagram, the actor posted images of the two casts on the set of Abbott Elementary.
Initially, a post titled “School’s dismissed everyone” displayed the “It’s Always Sunny” group looking glum in a school corridor, followed by another image where the staff of “Abbott Elementary” were seen smiling.
In the concluding shot, all parts were united to present McElhenney, Danny DeVito, Kaitlin Olson, Glenn Howerton, and Charlie Day, along with Brunson, Janelle James, Tyler James Williams, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, and Sheryl Lee Ralph.
One person expressed excitement saying, “Wow, this blend I hadn’t realized was missing, until now. I can hardly wait for the upcoming series.” Another chimed in with anticipation, “Can’t wait to catch up with the crew! Two of my favorite Philly picks joining forces – this promises to be fantastic!
Simultaneously, some spectators noticed the distinctly humorous styles in each show and pondered over how the stories could possibly intersect.
“The first individual exclaimed, ‘I can’t wrap my head around how it will function, but I adore it!!!’ Meanwhile, the second person mused, ‘It remains to be seen how they can pull off a show that’s even more out-there and absurd than Abbot Elementary.’
A third person expressed their excitement by saying, “I can’t imagine predicting the storyline, and that makes it so intriguing!
In the United States, you can catch Abbott Elementary on ABC, while in the UK it’s available for streaming on Disney+. On the other hand, in the UK and Ireland, you can find episodes of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia on Netflix.
