Alliance win the Apex Esports World Cup
As a long-time follower of Apex Legends esports, I can’t help but feel a sense of euphoria watching Alliance finally break free from their ‘Group Stage team’ label at the Esports World Cup. This team has been a force to be reckoned with since the game’s inception, consistently ranking among the best, yet always falling short when it mattered most – on LAN.
“Group Stage team” no longer.
In the Apex Esports World Cup, the Alliance team triumphed in a grueling marathon, making them the champions. The players Unlucky, Hakis, and Effect overcame several frustrating LAN setbacks to claim the first-ever LAN victory from the EMEA region, a remarkable achievement.
In the annals of Apex competition, this final match stands out as one of the longest ever played, both in terms of its duration and uniquely among LAN events. It required an astonishing 13 games before a champion could be determined.
Alliance shake off “Group Stage team” label at the Esports World Cup
For a long time, Alliances have been one of the top-tier teams in Apex Legends ever since the game first started. Regardless of their lineup or playstyle, they’ve consistently ranked among the elite.
Despite their strong early performances, they’ve never been able to secure a LAN win. Their impressive showings haven’t led to a LAN championship yet. In the past, Alliance only made it to the point where a winner would be declared.

However, since Unlucky joined their team, this roster has experienced a remarkable resurgence. Hakis, one of the longest-serving players in the game, has consistently adapted and evolved as a player, managing to overcome whatever challenges the game has presented. With each new meta, a torrent of teammates, countless versions of every map, and every game mechanic, Hakis has proven his versatility and adaptability.
It’s indisputable that Alliance earned a victory in a LAN tournament. Having successfully overcome their LAN jinx at the Esports World Cup, there’s speculation whether Alliance could repeat their success when the ALGS resumes in Mannheim in a couple of weeks.

Apex Esports World Cup Finals are one of the longest ever
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve got to say, the Apex Esports World Cup Finals this year was an epic marathon that stretched the limits even with its 60-point threshold for victory. The Match Point format, a topic of debate over time, is undeniably one of the top-tier formats in all of esports.
Opportunities to emerge victorious presented themselves multiple times for various teams. Aurora surprisingly abandoned the advantageous high terrain during match 11, which ultimately led to their downfall. In game 11, Team Liquid failed to capitalize on Barometer’s height advantage, succumbing after being pushed out of the zone and off their tower.
The Match Point format brings out the best in teams. Both EXO and Luminosity Gaming made fantastic plays to extend the tournament further and further, both grabbing wins when left as the last non match point team alive.
Twisted Minds pull off the impossible
In the heat of match 12, nothing could compare to the epic comeback by Twisted Minds. We found ourselves on the brink, only two of us still standing. But we rallied, regrouped, and in a miraculous turnaround, managed to pull off a thrilling victory. That’s one for the books!

A prolonged one-on-one duel between Fuhhnq and Genburten afforded Twisted Minds ample time for a strategic reboot. Subsequently, they easily overcame Alliance, who eventually emerged as champions. In addition, Twisted Minds engaged in a three-versus-two battle with LG, pushing the tournament to an unprecedented 13 games.
