Allegedly, The Orville has been renewed for season four according to several sources

As a die-hard Orville fan with a passion for space exploration that rivals even Captain Mercer himself, this news about the potential fourth season has me more excited than a Ferengi at a money exchange. The fact that it’s been confirmed by Scott Grimes and other reliable sources makes it feel like I’ve stumbled upon an uncharted planet teeming with Moclans!

Although an official confirmation has yet to be made, there are rumors circulating from non-official outlets suggesting that the popular sci-fi series The Orville, created by Seth MacFarlane, will be returning for a fourth season.

Space.com reports that Scott Grimes has confirmed at Star Trek Las Vegas that the fourth season of the series will start being prepared for filming in 2025. Additionally, The Planetary Union Network, the official fan podcast for The Orville, verified on Reddit that this announcement is accurate.

Seth [MacFarlane, the show’s creator] hasn’t made an official announcement on any of his direct social media, but we do work directly for production/him. S4 is happening. No one can give an accurate timeline on when it will release yet, though.”

After this announcement, Colin Krapp – the administrator of The Orville fan group on Facebook (with over 70,000 members) – extended a shout-out and a big thank you to Scott Grimes. This was because Grimes had revealed something Krapp already knew for a month: The production for season four of the series is scheduled to start in January 2025.

A lot of viewers are wondering why there hasn’t been an official announcement yet, given that the series is scheduled to start filming in four months. While it’s true that this phase is considered pre-production (meaning setup and preparation rather than actual filming), it doesn’t necessarily imply that all actors have already signed their contracts.

There doesn’t appear to be any video proof of Grimes verifying it, and I haven’t been able to find it either. However, there have been numerous comments on Twitter/X from people who were at the convention, confirming the announcement. Additionally, J. Lee mentioned on the YouTube channel Blerd’s Eyeview a month ago that they would be returning for season four. In summary, despite the lack of video evidence, there are multiple confirmations from reliable sources about Grimes’ return for season four.

Until there’s an official confirmation, let’s consider these as optimistic hints for now.
