All three movies in Ti West's X trilogy are getting novelizations

As a seasoned gamer and horror movie enthusiast with a soft spot for the 80s slasher genre, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming novelizations of the X trilogy! Having grown up on the original slashers, these books are like a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

Despite being touted as the final film in director Ti West’s X trilogy featuring Mia Goth, there’s exciting news! Bloody Disgusting announced that novelizations based on the three movies are under development, with the first one slated for publication in September.

As a fellow gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming novel based on “Terrifier 2” will be penned by none other than Tim Waggoner. This Bram Stoker Award-winning author has quite an impressive resume when it comes to writing horror novels, including the adaptation of “Terrifier 2”. In fact, he’s also responsible for the novelization of “Halloween Ends” and the story “Alien: Prototype”, which are part of the “Alien” franchise. So, you can expect some chilling, well-crafted horror from this talented writer!

Beyond media adaptations, Waggoner has penned numerous original works in the horror genre and young adult literature, along with his instructional book series titled “Writing in the Dark.”

Kicks off his X trilogy, the initial book commences undeniably with the title X, a cinematic reinterpretation that sparked it all. This installment is scheduled for release on September 24, marking its debut in the year 2022. This 1979-based slasher film unfolds around a pornographic film crew planning to shoot on a secluded Texas ranch. However, chaos ensues when the homeowners start brutally killing the cast and team members. Out of all, Maxine Minx (portrayed by Mia Goth) is the lone survivor.

In 2022, the prequel movie titled “Pearl” was released, focusing on the beginnings of the infamous Pearl character, portrayed by actress Goth. A book adaptation of “Pearl” is planned for release in 2024, though no specific date has been set as of now.

To summarize, the novel adaptation of the third film in our trilogy, titled “MaXXXine“, is scheduled for a release in 2025. This upcoming work serves as the official continuation to the story we started with “X“, and it unfolds six years after the tragic Texas massacre that claimed the lives of all her companions.

According to the reference, A24 hinted that author Tim Waggoner is adapting West’s vision into a gruesome printed version based on the original screenplay.
