All the signs it’s finally fashionable to support Trump: As woke dies and even Hollywood stars come out as conservative, MAUREEN CALLAHAN asks why it took so damn long!

Hollywood is doing the unthinkable — going red.

Not since the Reagan-era 80s has there been such an open rejection of identity politics.

When a prominent figure like Brian Grazer, known for producing the movie version of JD Vance’s ‘Hillbilly Elegy’, announces his vote for Donald Trump in the year 2024, this change is as significant and far-reaching as a massive shift in tectonic plates.

In the course of a documentary series named ‘Art of the Surge’ produced by Fox Nation, Grazer made an appearance, where he was seen engaging in conversation about his vote with Trump, taking place in a VIP section during an Army-Navy football game.

In simpler terms, Grazer shared that revealing his secrets felt akin to being publicly shunned or rejected by his peers, as he shared this information with certain women. Upon learning about his intentions, these women were taken aback with surprise.

As a devoted supporter, my heart skipped a beat every time I found myself in a group of women discussing the election. The moment someone asked, “So, you’re not voting for Kamala?”, I felt compelled to explain, “I simply can’t bring myself to vote against her.” Then, one brave soul leaned closer and inquired, “Then who are you voting for?” And with a heavy heart, I confessed, “I’m voting for Trump. I swear!

Many grazers might not openly admit it, but there are numerous individuals within the industry who share his perspective. However, they often hesitate to reveal their votes for valid reasons.

Look at Sydney Sweeney, targeted by the woke left for her American Eagle denim ad.

After labeling her as racist proved unsuccessful, they unearthed her voting record-and indeed, the young actress, who had recently gained prominence in Hollywood, had registered as a Republican back in June 2024.

In her recent feature for the Wall Street Journal magazine, Sweeney prefers to keep her political views private, which comes as surprising given that she openly characterizes herself within the same piece as ‘quite frankly, straightforward’.

Sweeney notes that he’s often puzzled by individuals who choose to avoid straightforwardness, instead preferring circuitous communication.”

Or more casually:
“According to Sweeney, it’s always been a mystery to him why people don’t just come out and say what they mean, but instead dance around the issue.

It’s possible that her choice to remain neutral politically could be influenced by financial considerations, as Michael Jordan once astutely noted, “Democrats and Republicans both buy shoes.

It seems clear from the recent election that celebrity status, regardless of its level, carries no weight in determining how ordinary U.S. citizens cast their votes.

Instead of looking elsewhere, consider the influential figures such as Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Rihanna, Oprah Winfrey, and Taylor Swift – all of whom appeared to believe their significant influence might tip the scales in favor of Kamala Harris during the election.

Alas, it could not. Have most celebrities taken the note?

No — of course not!

Stephen Colbert just got himself canceled and the whole Late Show with it.

Howard Stern found himself in a delicate position ever since he invited Harris onto his program, admitting his fear if Trump were to be elected.

He emphasized to her during their broadcast in October that she needed to win, stating it was essential, as if the sun itself would cease to shine.

Howard’s professional path seems to be heading towards an exit, and along with that, his standing as a person who always comprehended his audience and would never condescend to them in such a manner is also at risk.

Similar to Sarah Jessica Parker, Michael Patrick King, and Cynthia Nixon, their portrayal of wokeness both on and off the screen was a significant factor contributing to the decline of ‘And Just Like That’.

Just like Sarah Jessica Parker, Michael Patrick King, and Cynthia Nixon, their emphasis on wokeness in their personal lives as well as their roles in ‘And Just Like That’ may have played a part in its decline.

Disney’s reimagining of ‘Snow White’ faced challenges not only due to the decision to portray the heroine as Latina, but also because of comments made by the 24-year-old lead actress Rachel Zegler. These statements included her critique of the traditional story as outdated and her advocacy for Palestine, as well as expressing a hope that Trump voters and Donald Trump himself would never experience peace.

It’s said that producer Marc Platt felt so concerned that he urgently traveled to New York City for emergency discussions with Zegler. Disney ended up significantly reducing the film’s premier, but unfortunately, the damage had already been inflicted.

Platt’s son Jonah, in a since-deleted post, said what would have been unsayable just two years ago.

In a post in March, Jonah stated that Zegler’s actions appeared to negatively impact the box office sales. He pointed out that numerous individuals were involved in making that film, only for her to take center stage due to juvenile motivations, potentially putting at risk all the cast and crew members, as well as the blue-collar workers whose livelihoods depend on the movie’s success.

Zegler, according to her IMDB profile, has yet to book another acting job.

Recently, following a legal dispute, actress Gina Carano reached an agreement with both Disney and Lucasfilm. This settlement came about after Carano’s dismissal from her role due to her sharing political views on Twitter that leaned towards the right.

In this rephrased version, I’ve attempted to make the sentence more conversational and easy to read:

“Elon Musk funded her legal case, and a representative from Lucasfilm confirmed that Miss Carano was highly respected by her directors, fellow actors, and crew. Moreover, she consistently worked diligently to hone her craft and treated her colleagues with kindness and respect.

In other words: Carano wasn’t a racist, transphobic bigot who deserved to be fired.

The series of events continues: Lena Dunham, a former feminist trailblazer, has faced criticism with her recent Netflix show ‘Too Much’, which has not been renewed; MSNBC, separated from NBC Universal, rebranded as ‘MS NOW’; Dylan Mulvaney’s book ‘Paper Doll: Notes from a Late Bloomer’, launched in March, failed to gain traction; Bud Light faced backlash due to its partnership with Mulvaney and debuted a fresh ad campaign during last year’s Super Bowl, focusing on men and featuring Post Malone, Trump supporter Dana White, and Peyton Manning.

Lo and behold, it paid off! Bud’s advertisement turned out to be among the top six most viewed on YouTube that evening, as reported by Variety.

Gradually and steadily, Hollywood is shifting its focus towards the heartland of America, often referred to as “Red America.” The contemporary western series ‘Yellowstone,’ created by Taylor Sheridan, became an enormous success in popular culture during President Biden’s early months in office.

Sheridan followed with ‘Landman’, set in Texas oilfields and recently renewed for Season 2.

As a connoisseur of captivating lifestyles, I must commend Bravo for expanding their horizons and introducing the second season of ‘The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys’ in June. This show, traditionally appealing to urban elites along the coasts, now delves deeper into the heartland, offering a genuine insight into the lives of authentic cowboy families.

Chris Pratt, a notable figure from Marvel, recently expressed to Bill Maher (who dined privately with President Trump at the White House this year) that he admires the MAHA movement and holds affection for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., his wife’s cousin who serves as HHS secretary.

Bobby takes charge of certain matters, which appear to have bipartisan approval – such as removing harmful substances from children’s food, Pratt noted. It would be unfortunate if one’s animosity towards the president were so intense that any achievements from his administration would trigger a negative response in me.

Now it’s woke Hollywood causing allergic reactions.

Instead of “Netflix’s biggest show not being ‘With Love, Meghan’ or any production by the Obamas, but rather ‘The Hunting Wives’, a soap opera with a MAGA-like theme based in Texas where firearms take center stage,” you could say:

“Surprisingly, Netflix’s top show isn’t related to Meghan or the Obamas, but instead it’s ‘The Hunting Wives’, a drama series set in Texas that heavily features guns and has political leanings similar to MAGA.

As an unabashed enthusiast, I’d put it like this: “In my pursuit of sharing our vision for the show, I found myself in a conversation where someone asked me point-blank: ‘Can this series resonate with viewers from all parts of the political spectrum – liberals and conservatives alike?'” (Referring to Showrunner Rebecca Cutter’s interview with Variety.)

Cutter affirmed by saying, ‘Indeed, definitely… My role isn’t to be political or promote my own agenda.’

Talk about waking up.
