Jimmy Kimmel is likely coming back to late-night television, and the guests he’s lined up hint at a move away from politically focused content, following his recent break after his remarks about Charlie Kirk.
His return to social media began with a political statement, but he’ll soon be back to his usual interviews with celebrities and athletes, far removed from the world of politics.
Glenn Powell will be Jimmy Kimmel’s first guest when he returns to the show on Tuesday night. He was originally scheduled to appear before Kimmel’s suspension to talk about his new series, ‘Chad Powers,’ on Apple TV.
Okay, so I heard Jimmy’s having Sarah McLachlan on his show! I’m SO excited! Apparently, she was one of the few people who actually *had his back* when things got tough, and he’s finally going to publicly thank her. Seriously, it’s about time! I’ve been waiting for this moment forever. She’s amazing, and I’m so glad Jimmy’s showing her some love!
McLachlan was seen out publicly only two days after unexpectedly canceling her performance at the Los Angeles premiere of the Disney documentary, Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery.
On Sunday night at The Ford theater, the actress announced she wouldn’t perform, explaining it was a protest against the suppression of free speech.
Jimmy Kimmel’s show will feature Ethan Hawke, Lisa Ann Walter from ‘Abbott Elementary,’ and musician YUNGBLUD on Wednesday night.
Peyton Manning, the retired NFL quarterback, along with actor Oscar Nunez and musician Alex G, will be guests on Jimmy Kimmel’s show on Thursday.

Interestingly, Jimmy Kimmel didn’t have any politicians as guests, and none of his guests were among the 400 celebrities who publicly supported him after the controversy.
ABC has put Jimmy Kimmel Live! on indefinite hiatus following controversy over comments Jimmy Kimmel made regarding the death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
Variety reports that ABC made this decision because Nexstar Media, a company that owns many local TV stations, said it would stop airing Kimmel’s show if they didn’t.
The disagreement immediately highlighted the larger conversation about freedom of expression, political humor, and how far comedians can go with their jokes.
Although Jimmy Kimmel hasn’t commented directly on his remarks about Kirk, many fans think his tribute to Norman Lear-known for challenging norms on TV and openly addressing political and social issues-says a lot about his views.
On Monday, the ACLU and a group of prominent actors-including Robert De Niro, Jane Fonda, Ben Affleck, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Hanks, and Meryl Streep-publicly voiced their support for the host in a strongly worded letter.
This letter starts by stating that citizens should always defend their right to free speech. It argues that when leaders try to silence artists, reporters, or businesses by punishing them for expressing their views, it undermines the very foundation of a free society.
Last week, Jimmy Kimmel’s show was temporarily stopped from airing when the government warned a private company about potential consequences. This situation is being seen as a troubling sign for free speech in the United States.

Our government is trying to suppress dissent by threatening the jobs of people in the media, arts, and entertainment industries. This behavior goes against the principles our country was founded on and violates the protections guaranteed by our Constitution.
This issue extends far beyond our immediate concerns and affects many sectors. Teachers, government workers, legal professionals, academics, students, and countless others are currently experiencing threats to their ability to freely express themselves.
No matter our political views or how involved we are in politics, we all care about our country. We also all believe everyone deserves to be heard, because when one person’s voice is suppressed, it affects us all.
Now is the time to stand up for free speech throughout the country. We’re asking all Americans to work with us and the ACLU to protect the rights guaranteed to us by the Constitution.
Over 430 actors, directors, writers, and comedians from film, television, and the stage have signed on.
After a few hours, Disney said it was lifting the temporary pause it had put in place on Monday, following criticism of the suspension given to Jimmy Kimmel.
In his monologue on September 15th, Kimmel discussed how supporters of Donald Trump, often referred to as the ‘MAGA gang,’ were attempting to distance themselves from a young man who had attacked Charlie Kirk. Kimmel criticized their efforts, stating they were prioritizing political gain over acknowledging the individual’s connection to their group.
Carr publicly criticized him on Wednesday, telling conservative podcast host Benny Johnson that he was thinking about investigating Kimmel and ABC because of the statements made.

Leaders at Sinclair and Nexstar told ABC and Disney they wouldn’t broadcast Kimmel’s show until he apologized for his remarks.
As a big supporter of Turning Point USA, I was really glad to hear their spokesperson urging both broadcasters to stand their ground and not give in. It’s important to me that they don’t back down!
Sinclair also asked Kimmel to apologize directly to the Kirk family and to donate a significant amount of money to both the Kirk Family and Turning Point USA.
Carr told Johnson that an apology would be a simple, yet appropriate, first step to take.
It remains unclear whether Kimmel will issue an apology during his show Tuesday.
