Many signs suggest that Blake Lively served as the muse for Taylor Swift’s latest track, “Cancelled!” from her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which was released on Friday.
In the song’s chorus, the 35-year-old, incredibly wealthy pop star describes her preference for problematic friends, suggesting they all share similar traits: ‘Good thing I like my friends cancelled / I like ’em cloaked in Gucci and in scandal / Like my whiskey sour / And poison thorny flowers.’
The 38-year-old actress, known for her role in Gossip Girl, was the face of Gucci Première fragrance for the Italian luxury fashion house from 2012 to 2013. She happened to be the brand ambassador during that time.
Okay, so I was *obsessing* over Taylor’s lyrics, and when she mentioned ‘whiskey sour,’ it IMMEDIATELY clicked! It *has* to be about Blake Lively’s company, Betty Booze, right? They make these amazing canned cocktails, and one of them is literally called ‘Apple Ginger Sour Cherry’! It’s like, she’s leaving us clues everywhere, and this one is just too perfect to ignore. I’m convinced! Seriously, it all makes sense now.
Taylor Swift’s lyrics mentioning ‘poison thorny flowers’ probably allude to Blake Lively’s character in the film It Ends with Us. This character owns a flower shop named Lily Bloom’s, and the movie is currently involved in a legal dispute between Lively and director/co-star Justin Baldoni.

The actress received significant criticism last year because of how she and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, through their company Maximum Effort, promoted a film about domestic violence. She enthusiastically stated: ‘Grab your friends, wear your florals, and head out to see it!‘

In just five months, Blake will go head-to-head with Baldoni in a Manhattan US District Court trial concerning allegations of sexual harassment and defamation. Swift has been reluctantly subpoenaed, but hasn’t yet given a deposition.
As stated by Justin’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, Lively supposedly blackmailed the future bride in February. He threatened to reveal nine years’ worth of private text messages unless she publicly supported her during her ongoing legal battle.

The Another Simple Favor actress had previously stated that Swift was deeply involved in all parts of It Ends with Us, including choosing Isabela Ferrer for the role and obtaining permission to use her 2020 song, My Tears Ricochet, in the movie’s soundtrack.
Blake officially expressed gratitude to the singer, originally from Pennsylvania, and her brother Austin Swift by including a thank you message for them in the end credits.
During a Q&A session after a screening last year, Lively explained, ‘Honestly, she was with me through the entire experience, every step of the way, so she truly shared it with me,’
‘She’s a person who shows up for you, and I’m so grateful to have that love and support.’
However, in May, Taylor’s representative informed DailyMail.com regarding her subpoena: ‘Taylor Swift was never present during the filming of this movie, and she had no part in choosing the actors or making creative choices. She also did not compose the music for the film.’
She didn’t review the film at all – she neither provided edits nor left any notes. In fact, she didn’t watch It Ends With Us until several weeks after it came out. Throughout 2023 and 2024, she was busy touring the world, leading what became the biggest tour ever.
The statement ended by saying: ‘Because her role was simply to approve a song for the movie – something 19 other artists also did – this legal request for documents seems intended to use Taylor Swift’s fame to attract media attention and create sensational headlines, rather than address the actual details of the case.’
As a huge fan, I haven’t seen any public photos of Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift together since their adorable double date with their husbands! They were spotted at The Corner Store in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood way back on October 11, 2024. It feels like ages ago, and I’m really hoping they hang out again soon!
Currently, it’s unknown whether the singer of “How Does It End” is still considered a godmother to three of Blake’s four children. Reports also suggest she named her half-sister, Robin Lively, and her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-stars as godmothers to her own children as well.
Further evidence suggesting Taylor Swift has moved on from Blake Lively is that her sole featured guest on The Life of a Showgirl is her rising pop star, Sabrina Carpenter. Carpenter spoke highly of being directed by Baldoni in the 2020 Disney+ musical drama Clouds.

The 12-song album brought Taylor back together with producers Max Martin and Shellback, who were key players in the creation of her previous albums Red (2012), 1989 (2014), and Reputation (2017).
