All Five Twilight Movies Just Dropped on Netflix—Here’s Why Fans Are Freaking Out

Among the numerous titles available, very few have garnered as much criticism as this one has. The fantasy-vampire young adult series sparked a genuine cultural sensation, transforming into a secret indulgence for countless individuals, and its appeal remains strong to this day.

The Twilight series, penned by Stephenie Meyer and consisting of four books with the same title, formed the basis for a movie franchise. Between 2008 and 2012, these movies were produced as a total of five films. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner played the main characters, achieving global fame as a result. Now, you can find these movies streaming on Netflix.

Regardless of the criticism the Twilight films faced, often being compared humorously to a better love story than Twilight, they proved to be significant commercial triumphs. In total, The Twilight Saga earned Lionsgate a staggering 3.3 billion globally, along with an additional 873 million from DVD and Blu-ray sales. These films were released around the same time as the final Harry Potter movies, sparking fierce rivalry between their fan bases in the late 2000s and early 2010s, each trying to elevate their preferred series.

Following their run on another platform, the five movies from the Twilight saga are returning to Netflix in the U.S. To mark this occasion, the streaming service has been sharing clips from the series, featuring memorable moments like Bella’s famous “Where have you been, local?” line and the baseball scene from the initial film.

At the beginning of the year, it was Robert Pattinson, best known for his portrayal of the “this is the visage of a lethal vampire,” Edward Cullen from the sparkly vampire series, who… Although Pattinson was one of the harshest critics of the franchise, he remains thankful for the influence the movie has exerted.

In an interview with GQ Spain in January, Pattinson expressed, “I find it fascinating when people continue to tell me, ‘Twilight really impacted the vampire genre negatively’.” He emphasized that it’s been quite some time since the movies were released, and questioned why they are still dwelling on this topic. “Is it really necessary to keep discussing something from nearly 20 years ago? It seems rather unreasonable to feel sad about such an old event.

What Has the Main Cast of Twilight Been Up To?

As a devoted fan, I must say that it was Kristen Stewart who breathed life into the lead female character, Bella Swan, on the big screen. Following the film’s debut, her career has soared with numerous independent films earning her accolades. In 2024, she captivated audiences in Love Lies Bleeding, and garnered praise for her portrayal of the late Princess Diana in 2021’s Spencer. Stewart also shone brightly as a leading lady in the 2020 Christmas rom-com, Happiest Season.

Since the conclusion of the vampire series where he portrayed Jacob Black, Taylor Lautner hasn’t been involved in many critically praised productions. Nevertheless, Lautner is poised to appear and serve as an executive producer on a forthcoming scripted show called “I Am Taylor Lautner,” in which he will play his own character.

Among the three principal actors, it’s Robert Pattinson who has achieved the greatest box office success. This actor, known for his role in the fourth Harry Potter movie, continued to build on franchises by stepping into the superhero realm as The Batman in 2022’s film of the same name. A follow-up is planned. Additionally, he collaborated with Christopher Nolan in Tenet and is expected to work together again. Furthermore, discussions are ongoing for his involvement in Denis Villeneuve’s third Dune movie installment.
