Each month, Pokémon GO players have chances to find Ditto, but it’s tricky because it disguises itself as other Pokémon. With the launch of Pokémon Pokopia and the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon series, the list of Pokémon Ditto can transform into grew, especially during special events. Now that those events are over, Ditto might be harder to find than ever before.
In early March 2026, Ditto started mimicking more Pokémon than usual—beyond its typical 10 to 12. Later in the month, a new game called Pokémon Pokopia featured a Ditto disguised as a human character. While these events are unfolding, it’s unclear if Ditto will continue to expand its disguise abilities, but the way you catch it hasn’t changed.
All Ditto Disguises In Pokémon Go (April 2026)
Find The Right Masks For An Elusive Pokémon
To catch a Ditto, you first need to find a Pokémon that it’s pretending to be. If Ditto is disguised as a Teddiursa, for example, there’s a chance that when you encounter a Teddiursa, it will actually be a Ditto. You’ll know you’ve caught a Ditto instead of the disguised Pokémon when you see the message “Oh?” appear on your screen, revealing its true form.
Ditto usually transforms into 11 different Pokémon, but recent events – a collaboration with Pokémon Pokopia and the 30th Anniversary celebration – have significantly expanded that number. Currently, Ditto can disguise itself as 33 different Pokémon, giving players a lot more variety. Keep in mind that some of these disguises were part of events that ended in early March 2026, so the list may be smaller now.

Several of the Pokémon featured in the 30th Anniversary celebration are also Pokémon that Ditto commonly disguises itself as, but this doesn’t mean you’ll find Ditto disguised as them any more often. Just like with any Pokémon in the wild, each Pokémon Ditto can transform into has specific conditions for appearing, so you need to search in the right location and at the right time to find them. For instance, Duskull is more common at night, making it a difficult disguise to spot during the day.
How To Increase The Chances Of Finding Ditto
Special Items Will Help Improve Appearances Of The Right Pokémon
Ditto isn’t known for being strong, but it can occasionally be helpful in Raid or Gym battles. Whether it’s a useful fighter or just a fun Pokémon to collect depends on how much Candy you’ve gathered for it. To catch more Ditto, you’ll need to use lures to increase how often it appears in disguise while you explore.
Using incense can increase the number of Pokémon appearing near you, which can help you find Ditto in disguise. Lure Modules are also useful for attracting Pokémon, though they might not always bring what you expect. When searching for Ditto, pay attention to current in-game events, as special themed events may offer missions that increase your chances of encountering rare Pokémon like Ditto.
Shiny Ditto are much rarer than regular Ditto. While any Ditto is already a lucky find, the chances of it being shiny are very low – only about 1.5%. You need to get lucky twice: first to find a Ditto disguised as another Pokémon, and then for that Ditto to be its shiny form. Unfortunately, there aren’t many ways to improve your odds beyond repeatedly encountering Pokémon until you finally find one.
If you’re trying to find Shiny Pokémon or just want lots of Ditto in Pokémon GO, working with friends is a great idea. When people use Incense or Lure Modules together, it makes Pokémon appear more often. This means you’ll have a better chance of finding Ditto disguised as other Pokémon, especially during the April 2026 event, and potentially discover rare versions!
