All Destiny 2 raids in release order
Every Destiny 2 raid from the extravagant Leviathan to the twisting dark Monolith.
Once the campaign is over and all your Nightfall challenges have been conquered, it’s now time for you to embark on the pinnacle Destiny 2 endgame activity: taking part in raids.
Raids consist of several challenging phases, featuring intricate puzzles and intense battles against colossal bosses within a time limit. These tasks, though demanding, are usually the toughest yet most lucrative confrontations for a guardian to overcome.
Here’s a list of every raid released in Destiny 2, from it’s launch to the current day.
All Destiny 2 raids
Leviathan
- Release date: Sep. 13, 2017
- Enemy type: Cabal
- World’s First completion time: 5hr 30min
In Destiny 2, the Leviathan was the initial raid that debuted shortly following the game’s global launch. Players, or Guardians, plunged into Emperor Calus’ vessel, the Leviathan, in search of an audience. Hidden within the encounters were numerous secrets waiting to be discovered through secret passageways.
Leviathan Raid Lairs
- Eater of Worlds: Dec. 8, 2017
- Spire of Stars: May 11, 2018
During the upcoming months, caretakers returned to the colossal ship called Leviathan on various occasions, with Raid Lairs being introduced during each “season” such as Curse of Osiris and Warmind. Essentially, these Raid Lairs consisted of an extra one or two chambers in the Leviathan, along with multiple encounters that grew increasingly challenging in terms of difficulty.
Back in the day, I found myself tackling Spire of Stars – a notorious endgame challenge that lived up to its reputation as one of the toughest in the game’s history. It was infuriatingly difficult, pushing me and my fellow guardians right up against our limits until it eventually got pulled from the franchise.
Last Wish
- Release date: Sep. 14, 2018
- Enemy type: Taken
- World’s First completion time: 18hrs 45min
In September 2018, Last Wish made its appearance, hot on the heels of the highly successful Forsaken expansion. This raid redefined the benchmark for endgame activities in Destiny 2, as players ventured into the Dreaming City and unearthed the origin of the Taken corruption at its core.
Without a doubt, this is among the most remarkable raids Bungie has crafted (provided you don’t resort to shortcuts!). The ongoing popularity of the World First race has seen it stretch out to record lengths. In fact, the first group to conquer the raid clocked in at nearly 19 hours, and only two fireteams managed to complete it within the 24-hour timeframe.
Scourge of the Past
- Release date: Dec. 7, 2018
- Enemy type: Fallen
- World’s First completion time: 1hr 47min
Compared to Last Wish, The Scourge of the Past was surprisingly brief – only taking about an hour and 47 minutes to complete. It stands as the quickest first-day raid ever, featuring three significant battles worth mentioning.
Indeed, numerous seasoned guardians hold fond memories of Scourge; they recall leaping across rooftops and engaging in a thrilling “sparrow chase,” attempting to outpace a blazing-hot Fallen Servitor.
Crown of Sorrow
- Release date: June 4, 2019
- Enemy type: Hive
- World’s First completion time: 4hr 30min
Within the Leviathan, Gahlran rose as a significant menace, prompting Emperor Calus to assign guardians with the mission of breaching his hoard and eliminating the Cabal who had fallen prey to infection.
In the Crown of Sorrow, there were only two primary rooms, yet navigating through the two-phase Gahlran battle required flawless teamwork and constant communication among fireteam members. This was crucial as we took turns to advance, achieving objectives that thwarted Gahlran’s attempts to eliminate us all.
Garden of Salvation
- Release date: Oct. 5, 2019
- Enemy type: Vex
- World’s First completion time: 6hr 14min
During Shadowkeep, the mysterious Black Garden enticed visitors again as fireteams delved into the Garden of Salvation on the moon. The Sol Divisive were attracted by the Moon’s Pyramid, sparking activity across the system, leading guardians on a mission to uncover why the Vex appeared eager to respond to the signal.
Among the intricate riddle leading to Divinity and an intense battle with the Sanctified Mind final boss that felt like a high-pressure cooker, this raid didn’t attract many players for a return — not even after its reappearance and loot updates in 2024.
Deep Stone Crypt
- Release date: Nov. 21, 2020
- Enemy type: Fallen
- World’s First completion time: 5hr 29min
In Beyond Light, players weren’t just given their first taste of a Darkness subclass; they were assigned to delve into the depths of the Deep Stone Crypt on Europa. Furthermore, Clovis Bray’s research on the Darkness was further explored, but the most captivating part of the raid was undoubtedly exploring and navigating the space station orbiting above.
The protectors navigated their way through weightlessness, battling hordes of Eliksni, ultimately causing the station to re-enter Europa and conclusively vanquishing Taniks – though he may resurface to battle another day somewhere else.
The DSC operation was an outstanding success and is warmly cherished by numerous protectors, who continue to frequently reenact the raid as part of their teams’ activities up until now.
Vault of Glass
- Release date: May 22, 2021
- Enemy type: Vex
- World’s First completion time: 6hr
In Destiny 2, Vault of Glass, initially introduced in Destiny 1, was refurbished and reintroduced with an improved look. This revamped version debuted in 2021. Although many of its mechanics stayed consistent, the weapons underwent a significant overhaul, and visually, it’s quite breathtaking in Destiny 2.
The world’s initial runs incorporated a challenging mode where fireteams had to complete extra assignments to win the championship title.
Vow of the Disciple
- Release date: March 5, 2022
- Enemy type: Hive, Scorn, Taken
- World’s First completion time: 7hr 14min
In our initial expedition, we successfully ventured into Rhulk’s Pyramid, hidden within Savathûn’s dominion, which was the first time we encountered a Pyramid of Darkness. Our mission was to confront and battle the first disciple of The Witness, assigned as guardians.
Similar to Last Wish, Vow received widespread acclaim for its striking visual style, challenging encounters akin to intricate puzzles, and an epic final battle against Rhulk. Despite not being the largest boss we’ve encountered, Rhulk proved to be more intimidating than many previous raid bosses. Watch out for his devastating roundhouse kicks that could knock you off the map!
King’s Fall
- Release date: Aug. 26, 2022
- Enemy type: Hive, Taken
- World’s First completion time: 2hr 32min
2022 saw veteran guardians experiencing once more the grand conflict against Oryx, as King’s Fall, a revived raid from Destiny 1, made its return – the second out of three such resurrected raids.
Every weapon underwent an upgrade, featuring fresh advantages, such as a refreshed Touch of Malice version. Mostly, the original raid and its mechanisms remained unchanged.
Root of Nightmates
- Release date: March 10, 2023
- Enemy type: Cabal
- World’s First completion time: 2hr 25min
As the shape of ultimate confrontation drew near, protectors faced off against the returning deity of torment, Nezarec, the God of Pain, in the heart of Nightmares. This was the last original raid before The Final Shape expansion, and it had guardians navigating the Witness’ Pyramid beyond Earth’s orbit to vanquish a now renewed Nezarec.
Showcasing breathtaking vistas combining Pyramid technology and the glowing effects of the Traveler’s transformation, Root of Nightmares presents a challenging journey culminating in a grand finale where both Darkness and Light clash.
Crota’s End
- Release date: Sep. 1, 2023
- Enemy type: Hive
- World’s First completion time: 3hr 13min
2023 saw a resurrection of Crota’s End, where it re-entered the series, maintaining its ultimate goal: to finally vanquish the Son of Crota forever.
As a dedicated gamer, I found myself diving into King’s Fall, eagerly anticipating the tweaks to the raid dynamics, but it was the weapon updates that truly caught my attention. Among them was the elusive Necrochasm, the Exotic auto rifle, just waiting to be claimed!
Salvation’s Edge
- Release date: June 7, 2024
- Enemy type: Vex, Cabal, Taken, Hive, Scorn, Dread
- World’s First completion time: 18hr 59min
In the culmination of the Light and Darkness saga, Salvation’s Verge marked the end. With no defenses remaining, the Witness found himself exposed in the Traveler’s Paleness. Just as the Monolith was scaled by teams, The Witness executed his ultimate plan, annihilating the existing cosmos.
Without a doubt, this Destiny 2 raid is one of the toughest ever launched. On its debut day, teams struggled tirelessly for 18 hours and 59 minutes before they could conquer it, leaving them exhausted and bewildered by the challenges it presented.
Untitled 2025 Raid (The Edge of Fate)
Regarding future events, we can merely speculate since our journey is set for Kepler in The Edge of Light in July 2025. Therefore, it’s likely that our next expedition or raid will also occur at this destination.
It seems that every yearly update includes a raid and a dungeon. The mid-expansion update titled “Ash & Blood,” which arrives with The Edge of Fate, appears to be sending guardians back to the Plaguelands. This could possibly suggest that the upcoming dungeon will involve elements related to the Wrath of the Machine Destiny 1 raid, although we might just be speculating!
