All Creatures Great and Small’s Rachel Shenton teases new Yorkshire-set sit-com

Actress Rachel Shenton, who played the lead role in “All Creatures Great and Small,” hinted at a new comedy short film she’s part of, which is set in Yorkshire.

The film production company belonging to the star, named Slick Films, is working on a project titled “Rocket Fuel“. This film revolves around two youngsters living in a Bradford housing estate, who stumble upon an old, abandoned car and transform it into a homemade spaceship.

In a shared Instagram post with director Jordan Scott Kennedy and others, Executive Producer Rachel announced the premiere date for the movie, which is set to debut on BBC Three on May 22nd.

Situated in a Bradford neighborhood, Lenny and Mullet stumble upon an abandoned vehicle and transform it into their homemade spaceship. The upcoming short is hinted at as a humorous blend of kitchen-sink realism with science-fiction elements, exploring the dreams of childhood on estates, the allure of adventure, and the peculiarity of staying put while feeling like you’ve traveled far.

Previously, Rachel, known for her success in the show ‘Hollyoaks’, teamed up with her partner Chris Overton to create a short film titled ‘The Silent Child‘, which was produced by Slick Films and later won an Oscar for them.

Lately, she has become widely recognized for her portrayal of Helen Alderson in Channel 5’s series titled “All Creatures Great and Small.

In the previous year, Rachel defended criticisms about the perceived dullness in her character’s relationship with James Herriot, describing it as an unusual, deeply affectionate bond. She emphasized that this couple stood steadfastly by one another, always working together as a team.

She told Radio Times, “I recall asking a question similar to this in the past: ‘Does it seem monotonous that they always reunite?’ To which I would respond, ‘Absolutely not. It’s quite the opposite.’

Rocket Fuel will air on BBC Three on 22 May at 9.50pm.
