The “dark” German crime thriller Hellground is now streaming for free in the UK.
Nestled within a cozy village, the story unfolds as Dr. Fabian Lambert, an affable physician, steps foot for the first time in his new professional abode, brimming with anticipation.
Meanwhile, it turns out that Dr. Lambert looks remarkably similar to the perpetrator of several strange homicides. This fact does not escape the notice of Detective Tanja Hartholz in the local precinct.
During her investigation into the violent assaults, Tanja finds herself venturing down a chilling path. Along the way, she uncovers unsettling facts related to the quiet village’s past. However, can she uncover the truth before it’s too late?
Back in the year 2022, the eight-episode series titled “Hellground” was initially broadcasted in Germany. Today, it made its debut on Channel 4’s Walter Presents collection, a curated library of international shows handpicked by TV expert Walter Iuzzolino.

The full series is now available to binge for free on Channel 4’s streaming service.
In a nutshell, this series is a chilling German crime thriller. Set amidst the picturesque Black Forest, the village initially appears peaceful and serene. However, tranquility turns to turmoil when the beloved local doctor meets an untimely end. The local police officer suspects foul play. Unbeknownst to them, this solitary death is just the beginning of a chain of crimes…

The locale, Hellground (or Höllgrund), boasts an array of prominent German actors, with Tanja Hartholz portraying the lead role as Lou Strenger, while Dr. Fabian Lambert assumes the character of August Wittgenstein.
The ensemble is completed by Nicki von Tempelhoff, Andreas Anke, Ulrike Tscharre, Heiner Lauterbach, and Jakob Gessner.
In case you’re seeking additional German dramas, the Walter Presents collection offers 13 other options including “Dark Rivers”, “The Palace”, and “Berlin Wall”. You may also find interest in genres like Crime and Corruption, Nordic Noir, and captivating Dangerous Locations.
Hellground is available to stream on Channel 4.
