You can now watch Marbella, a Spanish crime drama, on Channel 4. The six-part series stars Hugo Silva (known for Top Boy) as César, a lawyer who gets caught up in dangerous situations after representing criminal groups along the Costa del Sol.
Beneath the luxurious surface of Marbella lies a hidden world of organized crime. The story follows César, a talented lawyer who bends the rules, as he defends small-time criminals and feels envious of his successful competitor, Carlos Setién.
When Yassim, a powerful and dangerous leader in the Mocro Mafia, comes to town to establish a new drug smuggling operation, César spots an opportunity and offers his services, helping Yassim access the docks. However, assisting Yassim compels César to compromise his principles, becoming involved in criminal activity and creating powerful adversaries.

The film also features Fernando Cayo (known for Money Heist), Elvira Mínguez (Everybody Knows), and Ana Isabelle (West Side Story).
Director Dani de la Torre (known for films like Retribution and Gun City) recently shared with Variety that the idea for the series came to him after reading an article about how Marbella became a hub for criminal activity.

News reports about criminal gangs in Marbella are appearing constantly, but their vast wealth makes it incredibly challenging for law enforcement to combat them effectively. According to de la Torre, Marbella has become a hub for lavish parties and extravagant spending – with bottles of whisky costing thousands of euros – and has essentially been taken over by organized crime.
He explained that Marbella rarely sees violence because it harms the city’s reputation and economy. He contrasted it with places like Mexico and the United States, saying Marbella is unique in Spain and beyond, and that the situation would make a compelling story for a television series.

Since its release in 2024, the series Marbella has received feedback from both viewers and critics. One IMDb user called it a blend of Narcos and Spanish culture set in Marbella, adding that while it’s not groundbreaking and relies on familiar tropes, it’s still enjoyable.
Executive producer Fran Araújo explained they definitely wanted to continue collaborating with Dani, but also explore new creative directions. She described the show as consistently funny and increasingly captivating with each new episode.
Marbella is now available to stream via Channel 4.
