Alison Hammond’s Shocking Beauty Habit After Dropping 11 Stone and Beating Pre-Diabetes

Alison Hammond shared an unexpected beauty routine she’s maintained since her youth following a significant 11-stone weight loss.

Alison, a 50-year-old host on “This Morning,” chose to shed some pounds following the passing of her mother Maria. This decision came about due to Maria’s worries about Alison’s pre-diabetes diagnosis.

Now, as she shared insights on the workout routine that led to her weight loss, Alison also mentioned an unusual aspect of her personal grooming practices.

The speaker shared that she’s been adding Dettol, a type of antiseptic liquid, to her bathwater, a habit she picked up as a child.

In conversation with The Sunday Times, Alison mentioned that before retiring for the night, she enjoys having a bath infused with Dettol – a practice her mother often employed, which brings back memories of her childhood.

Alison, who once tipped the scales at a hefty 28 stones, shared insights into her rigorous fitness routine as well as her decade-long enthusiasm for weightlifting.

She mentioned that when she isn’t filming, her initial action, often carried out a few hours prior to her son, Aidan, waking up, is to head to the gym for a session of weightlifting.

For the past decade, I’ve been consistently working with weights, which has allowed me to deadlift an impressive 65 kilograms. Lifting weights not only benefits my physical health but also contributes positively to my mental well-being and helps in preventing osteoporosis.

Previously, Alison shared her method for shedding pounds without relying on weight-loss injections, offering a glimpse into her workout routine as guided by her personal fitness coach.

As a lifestyle expert, let me share my personal journey with you. Previously tipping the scales at an overwhelming 28 stones, I found myself in a situation that many might relate to. However, I made a change, and I’d like to tell you about it.

I’ve been fortunate enough to find an exceptional personal trainer who has been by my side, guiding me through this transformation when I could train. Her dedication and expertise have been instrumental in helping me take steps towards a healthier lifestyle.

Option 1:
When I’m busy working, I can’t train or exercise; instead, I take a walk. However, when I’m at home, I meet with her in the morning for an hour-long session, which happens four days a week.

Option 2:
During work hours, I don’t find time to train or engage in physical activities, but rather go for walks. On the other hand, when I’m at home, I have a one-hour session with her, and we do this together four times a week.

Additionally, she shared details about her eating habits, explaining that she doesn’t eliminate any food groups entirely, instead practicing a balanced ‘moderation’.

‘I don’t deny myself anything, I eat everything, but in moderation,’ she added.

Previously, Alison shared that she chose not to use weight loss injections due to fear stemming from the concerning narratives associated with them.

She shared with Good Housekeeping UK: “I consider them beneficial for those who require them, yet for myself, whenever I encounter any alarming tale, it instills fear within me.

I’ve chosen not to employ them yet, but should circumstances change, I might do so. Moreover, I have no disdain for those who choose differently.

Apart from the information already shared, it’s worth mentioning that Alison’s choice to transform her lifestyle was significantly impacted by her mother, Maria, who tragically passed away due to lung and liver cancer in January 2020.

She mentioned that her mother had type 2 diabetes and was concerned for her, which made it particularly alarming when she discovered later on that she herself was pre-diabetic.

‘I thought: “I have to be an adult about this”. The sweets had to stop – and the fatty foods.

Two times a week, I visit my fitness coach, while at home, there are some weights in my room. On most days, I engage in walking, stretching exercises, and occasionally, I perform a few yoga poses.

During her physical change, the broadcaster chose to donate her former size 26 garments, which she sold earlier this year, to charity as a tribute to her deceased mother.

For quite some time, she’s been open about her battles with weight and once confessed that she felt deeply ashamed when she tipped the scales at over 20 stones. In an effort to prioritize her health, she enrolled in Weight Watchers back in 2019.

Alison openly acknowledges that she’s subjected to daily online bullying regarding her body size, yet she firmly resists any pressure to lose weight. Instead, she embraces the idea of occupying a slightly larger portion of the world.
