Alien television gets title, wraps filming, plus everything else we know so far

As a hardcore Alien fan with decades of immersion in this iconic science fiction franchise, I can barely contain my excitement about the latest developments. The upcoming movie and FX series are truly a dream come true for us die-hards!

Right now is an exciting period for lovers of the Alien franchise. We have a new movie by Fede Álvarez set for release in August. Additionally, there’s an upcoming FX series that functions as a prequel to Ridley Scott’s 1979 masterpiece. Notably, filming on this project, titled Alien: Origins, has reportedly been completed.

As a longtime fan of thought-provoking and visually stunning television shows, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news that comes directly from the talented showrunner Noah Hawley himself. His name might be familiar to you if you’ve enjoyed the critically acclaimed series “Fargo” and “Legion,” both produced for FX. The former recently garnered an impressive 15 Emmy nominations for its fifth season, and Hawley graced us with an exclusive interview with Variety.

I’m thrilled to share that Hawley has announced they have wrapped up filming and are now deeply engrossed in the post-production phase. He tantalizingly hinted that this project promises to be “an enormously grand production,” making me even more eager for its release!

As an avid fan, I’m thrilled to share that according to John Landgraf, the boss at FX, we can be optimistic about the upcoming “Alien” series. He and the network have been actively engaged in the project, frequently reviewing weekly cuts during post-production. In fact, they’ve even asked Noah Hawley to pen not just one but two entire seasons before potentially returning to a potential sixth season of “Fargo.”

Everyone seems to be optimistic about where the show is heading, but we don’t have much information yet regarding its storyline or characters. According to Deadline, Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Timothy Olyphant, Kit Young, Adarsh Gourav, and David Rysdahl have been confirmed as the series’ main cast members.

One of the main actors, Chandler, is rumored to portray a character named Wendy in the storyline. This character reportedly possesses the appearance of a grown woman but retains the mental abilities of a child, similar to the “Poor Things” persona. However, this detail isn’t yet confirmed by the production team.

As a long-time fan of the Alien franchise, I’m thrilled to hear that a new prequel series is in the works, executive produced by Ridley Scott himself! Being set before the first Alien movie and taking place on Earth is an intriguing twist. Having grown up watching the original films, I can only imagine the rich stories and characters that could be explored in this earlier era of the Alien universe.

Hawley asserts that the upcoming Alien show will resemble the visual style of the first two Alien films more than Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, although it occurs chronologically nearer to the latter pair in the series.
