Alien: Romulus dethrones Deadpool & Wolverine as it takes over the number one box office spot with $41.5 million

As a movie enthusiast who has spent countless hours in the dimly-lit corners of cinemas, I find myself captivated by the ongoing box office success of films like “Trap” and “Inside Out 2”. It’s truly fascinating to witness the magical interplay between storytelling, acting, and audience response.

After four weeks at the top of the box office Deadpool & Wolverine has been dethroned by newcomer Alien: Romulus

In a more relaxed phrasing: The science fiction movie featuring Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, and Archie Renaux, has been praised by critics and audiences alike, earning approximately $41.5 million during its first weekend in theaters.

The story revolves around a band of youthful space settlers who encounter a hazardous being as they explore an abandoned spacecraft.

As a lifelong fan of science fiction movies, I must say that the Alien franchise has been a constant source of excitement and anticipation for me since its inception in 1979 with the original film, starring Sigourney Weaver. Over the years, I have eagerly awaited each new installment in the series, and I can confidently say that the latest entry is no exception. With its gripping storyline, stunning visual effects, and top-notch acting, this movie is a must-see for any sci-fi enthusiast. If you haven’t yet experienced the terror of the Alien franchise, I highly recommend giving it a try – I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Worldwide, the film ‘Alien: Romulus’ garnered an additional $66.7 million, bringing its global opening total to $108.2 million.

The duo of Deadpool and Wolverine slipped down to the second position, yet they continue to make a significant impact in cinemas, with enthusiastic fans flocking to catch their latest escapade within the well-loved Marvel series.

The three-day earnings during the weekend of August 16-18 for the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman adventure movie were a whopping $29 million within the U.S.

As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I can’t help but rejoice over the fact that my favorite film, having grossed an astounding $1.43 billion globally, has dethroned The Joker to claim the title of the most financially successful R-rated movie ever made! It’s a testament to its power and appeal that it continues to captivate audiences worldwide.

After the alien invasion, the drama “It Ends with Us” starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni dropped from its initial number two position to third place.

Rumors of behind-the-scenes turmoil on the film don’t seem to have hurt its bottom line.

The movie pulled in $24 million dollars for the three day weekend with worldwide earnings $179.9 million.

Twisters is still blasting away at theaters.

Man, I was on cloud nine when I caught the thrilling, action-packed storm-chasing movie featuring Glen Powell and Daisy Ridley-Jones! Can you believe it snagged a spot in the top four at the box office, raking in an impressive $9.8 million? What a storm of success! ⚡️🌪️💰

Globally, the film has made more than $326.4 million.

2009’s Coraline returned to theaters for a special showing and landed in the fifth place.

Fifteen years after its initial release, I had the privilege of witnessing the remastered 3D version of the supernatural animated film, featuring the captivating voices of Dakota Fanning and Teri Hatcher, as part of the Fathom Events celebration. This special screening proved to be a chilling success, grossing an impressive $6 million at the box office.

Despicable Me 4 is still attracting moviegoers of all ages.

Over the weekend, the hilarious animated film featuring Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig voicing a clumsy criminal family earned an impressive $6 million, placing it at the sixth spot among box office earnings.

As a lifestyle expert, I find myself immersed in the thrilling world of M. Night Shyamalan’s latest cinematic masterpiece, “Trap”. In this gripping tale, I join Josh Hartnett and Ariel Donoghue as we courageously battle against the malevolent forces that threaten our reality. It’s a rollercoaster ride of suspense, mystery, and heroism, where every moment is filled with anticipation for what lies ahead in our ongoing struggle against evil.

The spooky thriller ended up in seventh place after its weekend take of $3.43 million.

The second installment of Inside Out, featuring the vocal talents of Maya Hawke and Amy Poehler, continues to resonate emotionally with viewers.

Over the weekend, the lively story centered around adolescence and its accompanying transformations earned approximately $3.2 million, placing it in eighth position.

2024 has been a fantastic year for films, but none have left me spellbound like Inside Out 2! Earning over $1.625 billion at the box office, it’s safe to say this sequel has truly captured the hearts of audiences worldwide. I can’t wait to see what magical stories they’ll weave next!

Borderlands continued its quick descent to the bottom of the top 10.

Following its fourth-place premiere, the action-adventure film featuring Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Kevin Hart experienced a significant drop, ending up at ninth position with a relatively low earnings of approximately $2.35 million.

Rounding out the top ten is newcomer Stree 2.

In a surprising turn of events, the Indian horror-comedy movie premiered in just 666 cinemas across the United States, yet it still spooked audiences into buying tickets worth a total of $2.18 million.
