In the second episode of the series, the character Morrow, played by Babou Ceesay and serving as the Chief Security Officer on the USCSS Maginot, managed to survive an encounter with the fearsome Xenomorph. This event has sparked speculation about why the bloodthirsty alien chose not to kill him. Throughout the first few episodes of the show, Morrow’s character repeatedly brushes close to death, leading some viewers to suspect that there might be a deeper connection between the officer and the Xenomorph.
At the outset of the series, Morrow remains unwaveringly devoted to Weyland-Yutani, emphasizing to his fellow crew members on the Maginot that their primary task is safeguarding the alien specimens. However, this allegiance meets resistance from his colleagues who dismiss him due to his nature as a cyborg – one of three principal android types in “Alien: Earth.” This antagonism has significant consequences later when the mysterious escape of the alien specimens aboard the ship occurs, with Morrow retreating to the computer room and refusing to aid any of his comrades, instead informing Weyland-Yutani that they have perished.
As the Xenomorph bursts into Morrow’s secret hideaway, the officer remains composed, locking himself within the safety of the impact chamber to protect himself from both the extraterrestrial beast and the approaching crash of their spaceship onto Earth.

Following the ship’s crash, Morrow’s objective becomes retrieving the scattered specimens within the wreckage. The Maginot unfortunately collided in a city governed by Prodigy, promptly attracting soldiers from the corporation. In a tense moment, Morrow crosses paths with the Xenomorph as it readies to attack Hermit (Alex Lawther). With swift action, Morrow manages to incapacitate the creature using a taser and traps it in a network of synthetic webbing.
Before Morrow manages to escape with the Xenomorph, a team of Prodigy soldiers question his suspicious-looking bag. Trying to reassure them, Morrow advises them to remain calm, suggesting they can perceive apprehension. However, the Xenomorph bursts forth from the covering and swiftly dispatches the soldiers.
After shifting its attention to the unarmed Morrow, it momentarily pauses. In response, Morrow swiftly extracts a blade from his arm, ready to fend off the Xenomorph. However, before the attack could occur, the noise of approaching soldiers interrupted, diverting the Xenomorph’s attention, thus allowing Morrow to survive, albeit shaken.
The television series titled “Alien: Earth” made its debut on FX and Hulu on August 12. Each new episode is scheduled to air every Tuesday, week by week. This groundbreaking TV show was conceived by Noah Hawley, featuring Sydney Chandler, Essie Davis, Timothy Olyphant, and Alex Lawther in leading roles.
Why Did the Xenomorph Hesitate to Kill Morrow?

In multiple instances, the Xenomorph has demonstrated its ability to rapidly eliminate humans. Yet, surprisingly, Morrow was spared. The creature, which had an opportunity to attack Morrow, a Weyland-Yutani officer, showed unusual restraint and eventually abandoned its pursuit altogether. Various possibilities might explain this behavior, but only time and forthcoming episodes of Alien: Earth will clarify or disprove these theories.
Another possible interpretation is that the Xenomorph might have aimed to eliminate Morrow, yet got diverted by the alarming shouts of the numerous and terrified soldiers who concurrently appeared. Perhaps it perceived this larger collective as a more appealing target for its predatory instincts.
Morrow was able to conceal himself from the alien due to his understanding of it. As Morrow had alerted the soldiers, this Xenomorph reacts to fear, and during that moment, Morrow remained motionless and silent, barely expressing any emotion (possibly boosted by his cyborg enhancements). This might have made him seem less menacing to the alien, possibly explaining why it didn’t immediately attack him.
An intriguing possibility in the show suggests a hidden past between the Xenomorph and Morrow, a connection yet to be fully revealed. In the first episode of Alien: Earth, the exact circumstances behind the Maginot containment breach remain undisclosed; instead, we find the crew dead, with the Xenomorph having already wreaked havoc. However, the series subtly provides glimpses into events that transpired during this mysterious timeframe.

In these flashback glimpses, there’s a moment where I, as Morrow, am seen standing firm, gun aimed at someone else, with a Xenomorph lurking behind me. The significance of this scene is hazy, but it seems like I might have been shielding the Xenomorph from one of my crewmates who wanted to eliminate it.
Morrow prioritizes keeping the specimens safe during transport to Earth, even if it means putting his colleagues at risk. It’s uncertain whether the Xenomorph has high intelligence, but it might have recognized this action and spared Morrow’s life later, perhaps viewing him as an ally.
Earth” could shed light on these events, potentially revealing more information about Morrow and the Xenomorph.
