The first season of the FX and Hulu series was a huge success, earning a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, creator and showrunner Noah Hawley is bringing the show back for a second season, and one of the actors has hinted at what fans can expect.
When asked about season two of Alien: Earth, Ceesay explained that they’re planning something much larger in scale. He also hinted at a stronger focus on family relationships, though he joked that ‘family’ doesn’t necessarily mean everything will be calm and peaceful.
I’m really excited for Season 2, but Ceesay hinted it won’t be entirely peaceful. He explained it’s less about constant action and more about the complexities of family – the ups and downs of relationships, but set against this incredible sci-fi alien landscape. We’re really diving deep into the story now, having already filmed eight hours worth of footage, and I can’t wait to see how everything unfolds!
Ceesay is optimistic about Season 2, though he’s still figuring out his personal challenges. He mentioned the main hurdle is knowing the season will be filmed in London. However, he doesn’t yet know when filming for Alien: Earth will actually start.
Ceesay shared what he was most proud of from the first season of the show. He described a wonderful atmosphere on set where everyone was happy, working hard, and genuinely excited to be there. What really stood out to him was seeing the finished product and being able to share it with others, getting reactions like Sydney Chandler’s enthusiastic response or Noah Hawley’s praise. He felt incredibly grateful to be a part of it all.
What’s In Store for Season 2?
In December 2025, Noah Hawley hinted at a potential crossover involving Alien: Earth in Season 2. However, he quickly clarified that this isn’t likely to happen. When asked about it on the SmartLess podcast, Hawley stated that a crossover wouldn’t be integrated into the show.
Noah Hawley praised director Dan Trachtenberg, who directed Prey and Badlands, saying he particularly enjoyed Prey. Hawley believes Trachtenberg has a clear vision for the franchise, though they haven’t collaborated on any projects together. He mentioned they’ve only met once.
“So, it’s not really my plan to do it,” he added.
Alien: Earth Season 1 is streaming on Hulu. A premiere date for Season 2 has not yet been announced.
